Keyboard for ear training and theory study ?

Good idea. Many college music programs use keyboards for ear training and music theory. Keyboards/piano are also used for learning/developing music composition.

Want 1x15 cabinet. Somebody talk me out of it, please.

I have a Blackstar U250 250W powered 1X15 extension bass cab. It is paired with a U250 bass combo amp. I can use the powered extension cab alone with preamps. It even works well with a Fishman TONEDEQ acoustic preamp for acoustic guitar or acoustic bass. It is bigger than the subcompact bass...

What was your first bass amp and how bad was it?

My first bass amp was brand new 1974 Fender Bassman 50 tube head with 1x15 cab. I really liked the amp. I had the opportunity to buy a 66 Ampeg Fliptop from my bass instructor for $100. I nearly fell down carrying the amp up a flight of stairs, and smashed my fingers pulling the head up from the...

The epidemic of Fenders getting "blown out of the water" on TB

I own 4 Fender basses (3 P-basses and one Jazz bass) and 7 non-Fender basses. I play the Fenders 70% of the time, even though I like them all. I prefer the look, feel and sound of my Fender basses for most of the music that I "try" to play. :)

    Which case do you prefer?

Just call me old fashioned (or just old ) but, I really like the traditional Tolex cover hardshell cases, especially the rectangular Fender style cases. I personally dislike the moldy (I mean molded plastic) hardshell cases. I think it would be great for more companies to offer case...

    Gibson basses. When Burt calls.

The all maple bolt-on Grabber with a more reliable sliding pickup would be first out the door for me. They can even do flamed maple versions with nitro finishes. I would want the plain maple version for me.

    OFFICIAL Fender Japan Bass thread

I bought this bass direct from Fender's website. The neck feels a little slimmer than my other p-basses. Light weight and comfortable to play. I installed EMG Geezer Butler p-bass pickups. It was $799 USD.

Reasons for buying a bass built in the home country of the company?

Handcrafted instruments made by trained, highly skilled luthiers, with care and quality craftsmanship can be found in many places throughout the world. Those skills and high quality instruments come at a cost. I think they are worth the money to maintain. I also think modern manufacturing...

What bass to buy someone who will likely not play it much?

Squier Classic Vibe may be a good choice. Higher quality than Affinity, yet not too pricey. Ampeg has their new Rocket Bass Combos that look promising and affordable.

    Is Ampeg done for?

I own light weight Trace Elliot ELF and a Fender Rumble 800 heads. I like all sorts of amps. I agree Jimmy, there are plenty of amps out in the world for the OP to try. Ampeg has a tone that a lot of bass players like. I don't think Ampeg is going away. `

Fender Precision Bass, asking for purchasing advice :)

I own three Fender P-basses. American Professional, Steve Harris and a MIJ special run. All three bass are outstanding. The American Professional gives me a great vintage P-bass sound.
