Not necessarily. I once bought a perfectly functional Memphis P with a hard shell case from GC for $20. I kept the case and gave the bass to a friend's kid. $14 isn't hard to believe. Why exactly someone walked in with this bass and took $7.50 for it is beyond me, but it is what it is.

Yep.

A few years back one of my friends was watching
the local crackheads come and go at the neighborhood
crackhouse.
After a few days, he got wondering what it was kept them coming back.
So, went over, bought a $5 rock, went home and smoked it.
As he put it;
' It made a believer out of me. The first thing I said when
I finsihed smoking it was, I believe I want more...
closely followed by walking around the house looking for anything
worth 5 bux, that I don't really need.'

Fortunately, he got a handle on that right away.

I own a Excel p bass and it’s honestly a really nice sounding instrument, all the posts I’ve seen have a small different logo than the one i have, curious if anyone else has the fat logo variant
