I tried to strip down the contents of thread. Here it is in very rough form...
Low End Jazz!
BaCH, Greco, Jackson, Mike Lull and Orville (Gibson Japan).
Jerzy Drozd? Kubicki?
Fodera, Bacchus, Atelier Z, History, Dragon, STD, Ken Smith
Most of the above are Japanese bass brands, regarding the Dragon I'm not fully sure it's the correct name.
I can still manage to spot Browne, Surine, Dot on Shaft, Andreas, Tokai, Mørch, Celinder, Skjold, Wiking as missing... maybe more will come to mind later
Blade, Capelli, Manne
Klein as seen here:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=331215

Here's the Bass Brand Megathread. Currently at 24 thread pages of basses. There was even one poster, supposedly in the process of writing a book, who claims to have identified several thousand brands of bass.
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=331215
I didn't see Vadim on there. Or Elrick! For shame!
CB
Cliff Bordwell !

Hutchins make some fine looking basses.

dalkowski 09-28-2010 09:11 AM
Travis Bean
Vaccaro
Renaissance (made lucite basses in the late 70s)
Rogue
AJ Brown 09-28-2010 09:59 PM
Marchlewski, Kala (U-Bass)
Warmoth
WalMart Silvertone Revolver Bass Guitar
Don't forget POS, the most popular brand.

How could you miss Musicvox?
Rondo isn't a brand, it's a store. Instead put down SX and Brice.
Douglas
Fernandes.
Univox??
Squier
Hondo

Fodera makes some of the BEST basses, how is that not on the list?
Hondo

Tagima
Nora, Greco, Univox, Guyatone, Starfire, Kimberly, Warmoth,
Kustom made a few basses in the late 60's/early 70's
Winston was a off shoot of Teisco in the early 60's.
Marleaux! I haven't played one, but damn do I want one.
Jerzy Drozd? Kubicki?
Jerzy Drozd - added
Kubicki - added
...History, Dragon, STD...
you're missing a significant number of the smaller, custom builders who frequent TalkBass. most of them have web pages you can find with very little effort
Ambush basses.
LeCompte
Riverhead
"A" Basses (now defunct); and Fury, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Fury is now known for making Dingwall pickups, but their guitars and basses are excellent instruments in their own right.
And how could you miss Kubicki???
Klira, Domino, and Wurlitzer
How is jackson and SX not included?
Also J&D Luthiers, one of the more popular brands in Australia.
I don't think anyone has mentioned Carl Thompson basses either. If there's one company that should be on any list, It's Carl Thompson.
Gagliano -- cheap solidbody double-pickup, 30" version of the same bass made by Hofner but at a cheaper price. Had the same electronics and PUPs at the Beatle bass but with a 4-in-line headstock and a Fender-like bridge. My second bass in 1966 and it sounded fine.
Suzuki (Japan)
Traveler
AXL
U.S. Masters
Callowhill
Krappy
Austin
Barker
Benavente
Gecko
Sandburg
Pensa
Suhr
Overwater
Ramirez
Line 6
Parker
Pavel

Antoria. Although I haven't searched all the links to see if they list it.
At some time they were produced in Japan in the Fuji Gengakki factory that was involved in some lawsuit with I think it was Gibson, not sure on that so don't quote me.
Woodo.
Antoria. Although I haven't searched all the links to see if they list it.

Just discovered this brand today: Lero
Invalid Link Removed
Fujigen (FGN) brand guitars/basses! lol
http://www.fgnguitars.com/
Thought it was interesting that the store in Lilburn, GA appeared to have two Lero's. Either that or they reposted the same one with new pics - but it does have a different SKU number. Also, they posted another bass with no brand name that looks similar to the Leros. It has a Tele bass shape rather than a Tele guitar shape.
Just thought of another one: J.Rhyne
Jay was a luthier in the Atlanta area and was legend in the '70s. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture of his basses, but here is one of his guitar creations:

Jay was a bass player himself and he liked the deep, simple sound like EBOs so his basses tended to sound somewhat similar. They were called Lima Beans cause that's the shape they had - not very attractive, just an odd oval shape.
This is pretty cool. I don't see a negative point the the fact that it has been done before, plus I notice you are checking links to be sure they ate active and the links valid.
Not sure if he is here somewhere, is be surprised if someone didn't mention him, I looked over the whole thread, didn't see so I figured I would post the link to one of my favorite bass porn.
Tom Clement

In post #196 I gave the web site link to Westone basses. The Westone basses are well knows Matsumoku made basses.
The Eastone guitar company do not seem to have a web site, but I placed a picture of my Eastone "Beatles bass" on this thread earlier. I addition I gave link to one of the biggest guitar shop in Norway which sell Eastone guitars and basses.
