17 and never been drunk. Do I suck?

College changes all drinking rules.

Never drank till about 4 months ago, and now it's a weekly or bi-weekly thing.

Getting so much alcohol in your system that you can't walk, stand upright, or talk may not sound like fun, but it is.

That's why people drink: because it's fun.

dont get me wrong, i do drink, and i do enjoy drinking, but im still proud of the fact that ive ever been drunk. that way, the day after the party, i can tell all my friends that were trashed what they did, and see the look oin their face! or even better, make up my own stories....mwahaha...

I agree with PeteBass - I think you have the wrong definition of "drunk"!! You are talking about blind ...or something else.

To me - getting drunk is about getting uninhibited enough to be happy and laughing and talking to anybody and everybody!!

So - I spent virtually every night I was at College "drunk" - but I was never sick - well maybe once! ;)

I think I would never have got laid at college, unless I had been drunk....:D

But - it was never about getting so far out of it you couldn't function or getting to be an alcoholic!! :hmm:

In fact I have it on good authority that alcoholics don't get drunk....:hmm:

But maybe it's an introvert/extrovert thing - as shy introvert teenager, I had to have about 4 or 5 pints before I could talk to anybody in a social situation - but by then I was really enjoying it!!

Whereas, extrovert people I knew didn't need anything to go out and chat and be stupid....

Being drunk allows you to do stupid stuff and find it funny - if I'm sober, then I just find all this stuff irritating!!

Interesting thread, although I feel the title should've been '17 and never been drunk. Do I rock?!' due to the general vibe in here.

I don't think its all that fair to label people as cool because they don't drink weather due to legality, medical conditions, poverty or just no desire to.

PS - I havn't drunk alcohol in quite some time. No reason whatsoever, perhaps I will tonigh,t perhaps not :D ;).

PPS - this post wasnt a dig.

I'm 28 and never been drunk. Ever since high school I've been a proponent of moderation. I still have a blast in social situations and I enjoy the occasional margarita and I do like my wine but I just don't get drunk. I've been a little buzzed but definitely not drunk (and I do think I know the difference between drunk and totally sh!#faced).

Kirbs - good for you. Personally I think it's cool!

Now, my experiences have been many! I don't believe I'm an alcoholic.......I'm just a drunk! You see alcoholics attend meetings..........

Anyway, I've been drinking for as long as you've been about. I've had my fair share of easy couple of beers nights, my particualarly heavy nights - you know, while you're in the shower, doors in your mind keep opening and letting you remeber some more of the dumb things you did the night before, and plenty in between. I've done a good few hangovers in my time - and they for sure are not cool!

Thing is, I've never set out to get 'wasted'. It just sometimes happens.

Each to his own! For all my drinking, I have never driven under the influence. That just isn't worth the risk in my book. If I have a vehicle with me, I prefer not to drink (especially if it's my bike I still need to concentrate/work harder on that to stay safe), although I may have one beer if I know it'll be a couple of hours before I'm driving!

I think you are cool, Kirbs.

I have a good friend who doesnt drink at all, he has pretty much only drank about 3 pints of beer, and that was in Spain....when drinking is a way of gettin the ladies! ;)

I drink about 2-3 times a week, but I don't really ever go over say 5/6 pints a night, because when I have my 7th pint, that's when I start getting REALLY drunk. But, getting blind drunk is so silly, people do things they regret.

I'm 23 and never been drunk and never plan on being so. I don't like alcohol in general. I think the idea that you need alcohol to be open and fun etc etc. is a huge load of garbage, since I am that way naturally every day. ;)
