1958 Fender Precision

The deal is done. I am heading there in a couple of days to make the exchange.

:woot::bassist:

Good for you, gorgeous and important part of musical history, it speaks to you, and is one over all current vintage instruments that is sure to keep appreciating in value should you ever need or want to sell.

You said it has the covers- I only saw the ashtray in the pictures. If it has the PUP cover as well it should be the earlier flat kind and not the later rounded ones (you can look at the AV 58 P for an idea of whT it looks like.

The price doesn't seem that outrageous, considering what some new instruments go for these days. Plus, they don't make any more '59s. Most newer equipment can be replaced, but a '59 doesn't come along every day. Heck, I'd be tempted, and I play a $350 bass.

Ten grand buys a lot of $350 basses! Like 25 of 'em, with $1250 left for a rig. I could tempted in that direction as well, given a $10,000 budget. But hey, now I know a guy with a '59!

For those who don't know Dave and his shop:

Folks, if Dave says it's legit, you can bet your life on it. He's been doing this longer than lots of people here have been breathing.

Absolutely. Dave has been very great to deal with and I'm looking forward to meeting him in person. I was at the store last Saturday (he wasn't there, but that's when I first saw and played the '59 P) and his personal collection is unlike anything I have ever seen before in my life....I didn't want to leave!

I lived in La Crosse for a decade, and mixed for a few of the employees' bands.

Almost everyone who works at the shop, at least the main full-timers, have scary good chops. Those cats can PLAY. Dave is no exception. ;-)

And they're great people to top it all off.
