To answer a few questions, the fender strings ask for deeper digging in. The Thomastiks are a lighter gauge and sound less brutal.
Less high mids in those, from about 500 to 800hZ I guess.
So that’s why the 61 cuts through more.
I had rounds for a week or so on the 61, but on these basses I like flats better. Perhaps on a maple board rounds work nice, to me that is.
The 62 has a flatter neck which plays a tad easier.
That too is a reason to dig in more with the 61.
