Swap the flats on the '61 and '62 and repeat the song? . . . That would be an interesting comparison.

Both basses sound really good, but it's hard for me to separate what I may attribute to the string differences vs. the different basses. And the playing -- sweet!

Both great basses, great playing, maybe not a fair fight putting Fender flats up against Thomastiks.
I never cared much for Fender flats but have to say, you make them sound good enough to make me a believer.
I think a producer would go with the 61 but a bassist would be drawn to the greater low end complexity of the 62 with the Thomastiks.

The 62 is the lighter player, flatter neck.
The 61 needs a bit more digging in, but it seems the most persons like its sound a bit better.

Well, you seemed to have no trouble getting around either. Maybe consider a set of nickel rounds for one? I have DR SUNBEAMS on one of my P basses and LaBella Low Tension Flexible Flats on the other. Both strings are easy on the hand and sound great, IMHO, after broken in. Just a thought as your basses sound so similar as they sit. There are slight differences but nothing the audience would ever hear.
Either way, you play beautifully and I'm sure you'd make any instrument sound good!

They both sound good, it’s hard to qualify recordings over the internet versus how they sound live and in person, but I thought the 61 with the Fender flats had a little more clarity. In person I might prefer the 62 with TIs. But neither is the wrong choice!
