Now, over the next few gigs, try keeping the IEM volume LOW. Loud enough to hear your mix, but low enough to get some of that stage "ambience" that the ADEL's allow..
Being able to hear the PA AND all the instruments is an awesome experience too !!
So does that mean that ADEL is dead or is this an evolution of it? The video wasn't clear to me.
The also have another patent pending tech on the website now. Lots going on the IEM world.

From what I read - the Apex tech is backward compatible with the A and U series, but all A/U series orders going forward will be Apex only.
There is a small port at the tip end that reduces wind noise. My A8's are VERY noisy if I stand in front of my stage fan.
Looks to me like 1964 split from Asius and this is the outcome ???.
The Apex M-20 modules will be shipping Aug 17th - $99. I "assume" that's for a pair. Don't know how they compare to the other ADEL modules (MAM's, etc.)

My sax player/singer and I (bass, FOH/monitors, and vocals) have decided to take the plunge - we just got our impressions last week. Running sound from stage, I've been afraid to use IEMs, but I am thinking I can add an ambient mic near the mains, and mix that in (I guess we shall see about that).
I've read about 1964 (now 64 Audio) for years, but there's a local company Westone who has some better pricing.
Has anyone compared the Westone offerings to the 64Audio? I like to buy quality stuff, but an interesting thing about custom-fit IEMs is that of course I can't just put them on eBay (like I could with an SM-57) when the band breaks up, so I may not want to spend $1,000 the first time out

You can also use IEM's for any listening application, not just for gigs, so you won't have to sell them when the band splits, unless you want to. I'll be taking my A8's on my trip next week. Use 'em with airplane audio (note to self: take volume control adapter as PSA announcements bypass the in-flight volume adjustment on the armrest!!) and at the hotel.
Besides.. most vendors will re-shell a set ($200) using the buyers impressions, so evilBay/Craigslist sales are all possible!!
And.. Westone customs are no less "pricey" than others..
Their ES30 (triple driver) are $899 base, while 1964 A3's are $699 -$200 less.
Their TOTL ES60 (six driver) are $1299 base, while 1964 A6's are $1199
I have used Westone UM1/UM2 and the quality was good.. but have not compared their customs to my 1964's.

Yea, if you don't have an inline volume control between the armrest volume and your IEM's, you may get your head blown off by those PSA announcements !
Holy crap, no joke. Had that happen for a year because I never knew there were in-line's that could override the master volume. Eternally grateful I am!
Yep, I use my Qis much more for
listening than rehearsal/gigs. An airplane would be an ideal environment for them! Sound isolation and perfect music reproduction, what could be better? I did find they aren't so good for running though, the up and down motion combined with sweat means they constantly lost seal. Which is fine really, I probably shouldn't be outside running near/on roads without being able to hear what's going on around me anyway.

There used to 3 cable [sheathing] colors available when I wrote that - black, clear and Graphite (silver/grey?)
There are now only 2 - black and silver.
Due to their extended use fragility* - I researched and bought a after-market custom cable from Brian Gotoh at BTG Audio called the Midnight.

I put a straight jack - instead of the usual right angle jack - on the end. Great cable, well built. Would buy another...
** NOTE: to clarify what I mean by Extended use fragility. Since I gig frequently, I run the IEM cable down the inside of my shirt to minimize contact with my bass/guitar strap, and wear them for up to 6 hrs at a time - I don't remove between sets.
However, with that approach, they occasionally get "snagged" while playing and get yanked when I turn my head or look down. The factory cables were never designed for that (much like a CAT% jack not being designed for being constantly plugged and un-plugged) so they wear out MUCH sooner than with normal listening use.

Welp I'm joining the club. With the summer sale going on, it was too tempting to pick up some U6's over A4's. Down the road, depending how much I like/love the U6's I might either do A6's or A12's. Can't wait! Also happy that this pair has the ADEL tech over the (at this point) unproven Apex tech

My U6's arrived. Oh my god I am in heaven.
From Friday to today I was worried, "Oh no I should've gone custom they're not going to be good I just blew $700"
After 10 minutes or so of adjusting to them, they're pure bliss. With the Comply tips and them snugly in the ears, they disappear from your mind after a bit and you're just left with an amazing soundstage.
Looks like my current gig is solid on using the IEM system; so I am re-evaluating my transducers. I've been using the Westone UM30; but, while they sound OK, they are uncomfortable, even with all the different foam balls they provide.
Which has me looking hard at the 1964 transducers. The problem I am having with the 1964 products is that there are so many of them; and I can't honestly tell where the performance goes from need to have to nice to have. I think I am looking in the A2 - A4 price points. The A4 supposedly has a little more bass emphasis, going by their crude chart. But, do you really need that? Any feedback from cats who have used several of the transducers would be appreciated in terms of practical vs extra frills. Thanks, it's a bit confusing without actual use feedback.
