2 AMPEG 810e's????

Hey, I checked out your band! You guys sound great!!!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that... full album in October.
Noooooooooo ! LOL. Ive been looking at SVTs lately too. Shhh, dont tell the GK guys.
lol, i played one when I bought my SVT 810 Classic and If I had the money that day, it would have come home with me.... very impressive.

My band started out about five years ago with me using two Ampeg 8x10's. We were a three piece then. At that time I think I was using an old Acoustic power amp/Sansamp setup into one, and a V-4B into the other. It sounded pretty good and looked really cool and intimidating and all that, but I would never want to move two 8x10's around on a regular basis ever again.

Now I'm using a single 8x10 with an 800RB. It sounds much better and seems to have more power than the aforementioned setup. I'm playing with one guy using a 100 watt Marshall JMP half stack and another using an Orange AD30/Sunn Concert Lead full stack (one head into each cab), and it all balances out perfectly volume-wise and tone-wise. So, I'm happy.

But to each their own.

sounds like you need 2 810s powered by 2 GK 800rbs.... ;)

I have a friend who owned and maybe back in the day gigged 2 Ampeg fridges. He was sort of into 80's stylings in his heart and probably still imagined he was competing against a pair of Marshall full stacks or something. He brought them to a big venue, but they didnt need that much stage volume. Another time I caught this great doom band (Graves at Sea, RIP I think) and their bassist was using two Fridges... funny thing is, you could barely hear him over the guitarists insane Orange full stack (maybe poor EQ?).

Two Megoliaths would be so epic. Every time I see mine (which is already loud enough to drown out most bands), I think it would be awesome to have another one. One powered by my Bass 400, the other by my D180 with some ratty gain setting.

I have an 810DL already and on another whim just picked up a 1540HE for $80, complete with broken attenuator knob and blown 15. :-)
(I'm going to start a restore thread for the 1540 soon)
I already have parts ordered and I'm sure I can find an 4 ohm 15" somewhere around St Louis. I'm not sure I want to run a 2.6 ohm load off my CL though. I don't know if that's a no no on the 2 ohm setting.
I may run the DL and the 4-10s from the 1540 from the CL and slave the 15" from my Genz Streamliner.
