The new 810e is here! Brand new from Future Shop (CANADA) for $699.00 and free shipping. Sounds incredible, crazy loud, but sounds fantastic at just playing alone volumes. I have to disagree with those that said it wouldn't be any louder! I LOVE THIS!!!! Just wish I could run my V4BH through these 2 cabs!

Future Shop sells Ampeg stuff? I'm from Canada and I had no idea they sold any music stuff beyond starter packs.

The original SVT was supposed to be run with two 810 cabs. Now that's a full stack!
As for necessity... in most situations, admittedly, not necessary. But for some genres, perhaps helpful.
When I saw Sleep the last time, Al Cisneros was using four SVT's, four 810 cabs, and a guitar stack. And yes, they were all on, for the doom.

I was lucky enough to play thru a Magnavox era SVT head with 2 70's Cabs and a Mid 70's P-bass. Sounded incredible. Even though a couple spekers were partially blown
lol... Amp Porn! That's not even mine but I love looking at it. That just drips with awesome. I need to start an SVT piggy bank for just such a rig. Well.. even half would do. Enjoy your wall-o-sound!
Stones here used one head and two cabs for main stage. A second rig (one cab/one head) was to the left of the drum kit on the movable section of the stage. A third setup ready to go was just behind the stage. I have a photo of Live-Aid in the UK that shows four cabs/four heads on each side of the stage - a total of eight. I doubt more than two were used at a time. Just guessing.
