2 AMPEG 810e's????

Indeed...earliest ones did 250w, there was a period where they did 400, and since at least the mid 90's they've done 800. A legit 800 BTW, not thermal.

If you can afford it, I would consider another head. These cabs were designed for high power (1600 watts peak) so don't be afraid to drive them.
I use a 3000 watt stereo power amp and I can push up to 1500 watts into each cab and it handles it just fine. I checked with Ampeg's tech support beforehand and they said it will handle that kind of wattage with no problem, don't even worry about it, and I don't!
When I use 2 cabs, the sound is so punchy and so tight, I regret I didn't use these years ago! Although 1 cab sounds fine and does the job just well, it pales in comparison to using both cabs in tandem.
Simply put, more speakers, more sound! but, you have to have the power to drive them both with the highest efficiency and potential!
I use 2 Ampeg SVP Preamps yet I hardly use or need any EQ. The sound with this much power (1500 WATTS) and 2- 810 cabs is so powerful and has so much low end, I sh*t you not that I can get a sense of vertigo if I stand too close to them, yet the sound stays tight and still cuts thru!
The flip side is, when I play live, I usually run direct from my preamps to the board, so do I really need all of this? why not? It"s great to have an awesome and inspiring stage monitor rig for live gigs and for practice!

I used my SVT CL with a Traynor 8-10, AND a Yorkeville 4-10 at the same time. The sound was HUGE !!!!

That's no Photoshop job. That's a real working amp. It's an SVT-CL with two SVT power amps built into one chassis and a 3210. It was originally built for the Monsters of Rock tour way back when and became a fun prop that Ampeg will trot out occasionally at trade shows and stuff.

Oh yes it does...it's a bitch to move but it's worth it!
I have a B4R, a late 70's 810e, and a recently perchased 215e. The sound is amazing. Now that I've found one I'm thinking of adding a 1540he to the rig. So that would be 12 10's and 3 15's with 1k watts behind them. Ridiculous all same but, I think, killer looks and tone wise.
On a large stage with my Black Sabbath Tribute, I will commonly use 2 810's stacked on their sides, powered by 1 SVT II. Just sounds very clean and massive for that style of music, not to mention, adds to the visual stage effect. Brings women to thier knees. Makes children cry and turn purple...
