Apart from having 2 bass players (who sometimes switch to guitar or keys), they have an amazing drummer.

Yep exactly its just a matter of time before a Spinal Tap reference happens.
So technically I guess I'm a little off, because we are talking about 2 bass players in a band.

It was worth mentioning because in the song Big Bottom all the guitar players switch to bass. So its would be a all bassline song with 3 bass players. Aside from vocals and keyboards of course.

The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand.....so the song is about big bottoms and it has big bottom hence the multi bassist

In this case, the two-bass thing came about because this outfit is actually the combination of two bands: the Adrian Belew Power Trio (Belew, Julie Slick, Tobias Ralph) and Stick Men (Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto, Markus Reuter). The video you referenced is from last year's tour, in which each show contained a 45-minute set by each band separately and then a set of King Crimson material performed by the combined double trio.

The sextet is current touring under the name "Crimson ProjeKct" in support of Dream Theater, with a few additional dates of their own (i.e., w/o Dream Theater) following the format of last year's shows. See adrianbelew.net for the tour schedule.

And if you're not already hip to Julie Slick, you ought to check out her recordings with ABPT as well as a variety of other projects, including a great debut solo album (packed with superstar guests) and a second solo album that is set to be released after this tour. My shoes broke before my first gig with Ade. It's actually nice to play barefoot... I can turn knobs with my tootsies. The other day I tried wearing shoes and it just felt, well, wrong. In my Philly hipster bands I usually keep the sneaks on, though...

Two basses is great! Getting to trade licks and harmonize with Tlev is a dream.

It's actually nice to play barefoot... I can turn knobs with my tootsies. The other day I tried wearing shoes and it just felt, well, wrong.

living in so cal i realized i can wear sandals year round. it was only a matter of time till i started kicking them off and turning pedal knobs with my toes. smaller 'footprint' than expression pedals.

I don't know why anyone would go barefoot on stage.

i'd rather go barefoot on a stage than at the gigs where there is no hard line between where dance floor stops and band area begins. i also don't like to use many (if any) pedals or music stands at those venues, cause you never know when a drunk person will stumble into your space.
