2 Ohm micro-amp recommendations

So I currently have a pair of lightweight 4 ohm 1X12 cabs. I've been running them stereo with a pair of GK MB200 micro amps (can you say "bassist got hernia?"). Most of my gigs I don't really need a ton of volume, but every now and then I do have to be a bit louder than this rig can manage. So I'm thinking about an Eden wt550 or a Euphonic Iamp, used with a pair of Eden 1X12's. Is there anything else I should consider?

You could also rethink your cab choices. "Getting the most watts" with single driver 4 ohm cabs is flawed thinking. Speakers make sound not watts.

No, I got a hernia carrying around EVERYONE ELSE'S equipment. All I carried around was a 2X10 and 1X15 with a GK 800RB, back in the day.

If you can find one, the Yamaha BBT500H is designed to run at 2 Ohms (500 Watts). I've used one with a pair of Yamaha 4 Ohm 2x10 cabs (BBT210S I believe) almost every week for the past 10 years at a local blues jam (I'm the house bassist), and I've never had a problem with it. Weighs about 10 pounds. Plenty of volume, and should work fine with your cabs. They go pretty cheap these days (usually between $200-300) when they pop up in the classifieds.

If you're thinking about the 20-pound WT550, you might also consider the 15-pound WT405. There's one in the TB classifieds for $400, US-made and looks to be in great condition. They provide a very stout 650 watts at 2 ohms, probably enough to blow up your 12s!

I'd say look for a Genz Benz 12. Whatever I'm not sure about the 9.0 9.2 but I'm quite happy with my 12.0 and do run two 4 ohm loads on occasion. Plus it has two separate amps that gives more redundancy. Cheers

Snag a Carvin BX500 new for $359 direct from Carvin, the 700 is on sale for $399 right now, I've had good experiences with the BX500.

It's not suggested for 2ohm use. People do it in the world, but Mesa frowns.

You're welcome I've been impressed with Carvin's recent offerings, no shortage of EQ options on the little suckers. The 12AX7 tubes in the front ends are pretty subtle, fully bypass enabled so you can skip the tube altogether if you want, I like 'em.
