I use an Ashdown ABM NEO 210 8 Ohm with an Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II (575 Watts at 4 Ohms)...I have yet to play a venue that I didn't have enough headroom. Additionally the cab handles tone EXACTLY the same at higher volume levels as it does lower. Absolutely KILLER setup.

Fearless F210 I would consider a two 10 system even though it has a mid. You can't match the displacement of that cab or the low end response with anything else that isn't loaded with Kappalites. While there are excellent 210's out there I do agree with others, this is a different animal altogether. The Berg CN210 is a punchy little beast and it's form factor is amazing. But if you want a cab that will excel at producing the entire spectrum and willing to deal with a larger box the F210 is worth some consideration.

I'm in the Acme camp - Got 2 or their 210's used for $200 a piece. Clear, defined and the most punchy bass I've ever heard. I use 1 for small gigs and both for bigger. ymmv

Explored the same topic awhile ago when I was trying to reconfigure my Eden 2-10XLT/1-15XLT rig for a lighter standalone 4-10, less boomy rig. Best advice i ever got here was to ditch the 1-15 and buy another 2-10 and stack vertically. I use the one 2-10 for smaller venues and the second when playing theaters or outdoors. I use a GB 9.2 Shuttlemax for the vertical s, 2-10's with up to 900 watts (cabs rated at 700) and an Eden WT400 for the one 2-10 or 1-15 when using midi bass pedals. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO TURN THE VOLUME ON EITHER SETUP PAST HALFWAY. I play in a progressive rock band with a super loud drummer and guitarist and often no DI. I built a small dolly that attaches too.

. Now I use the 1-15 for my Roland PK5 bass pedals ala Mike Rutherford. (I'd get any of the above recommendations or DNA 2-10 or Eden XST 2-10's.)

I've had good success with an older Mesa PH210 (the rear ported one, can't speak for the newer "tri-port" ones). Handles the low B very well and really sounds larger than I thought a 2x10 could. Only downsize is it weighs nearly 70lbs... But so much tone, I certainly wouldn't put it in the high-fi super cab category though. Can probs find a used one for a very reasonable price if money is an issue.

The original Bergantino HT210 is tuned low (to my ear) it is a monster 210 with a wide footprint sonically.

I loved my 2x10 8ohm Avatar cab. I bought it off the local craigslist for $175, but blew a speaker after a year or so. I can't say that it was the cabs fault or my fault, as it 'may' have been damaged by the previous owner and I just pushed it over the edge...it's just the nature of buying something used. It served me well for over a year of gigging 2-3 times a month plus rehearsals. I plan to change out the speakers and use it at the rehearsal spot!

I replaced the blown Avatar with a DNA 4ohm 2x10, and it flat out slays!!!! I was fortunate and found it used locally for less than half of a new one! The head I use 99% of the time is a GK MB500 Fusion, which IMO is one of the best micro heads on the market!

As the band I'm playing in branches out to bigger gigs, I'll most likely purchase a pair of Avatar 8ohm 2x10's to make a modular rig to use and keep the DNA at the house as a practice cab.

If money wasn't an option, I'd either buy a pair of DNA's or Berg's, as they seem to be the best of all the brands I've used.

I've been "researching" 2×10 cabs myself, and ended up going with the Avatar B210; it sounds the best (to my ears); it's 700 watts w/ either 4 or 8 Ohms (I went with the 8 cause I'll be adding a second one later), you can get the Neo speakers or the Eminence Delta 10 Pro speakers, and your choice of Tolex or "rats fur" covering, $349-$449 Tops!! I'm looking at getting a high end 2x10 to use as a stand alone cab for smallish gigs/clubs/pubs usually always supported by a PA.
I use a genz benz 9.2 and a genz nx212 and run it on about half volume for rehearsals and gigs.
I play funk jazz latin hip hop and dub genres, bands not hugely loud but you know how it gets..

I've totally gone off the nx212 as i'm usually on a cramped stage and I think I prefer the dispersion and punch of 10's. i've since gone back to using a 4x10 but it's crazy heavy.

What are peoples opinions of stand alone 2x10s?
I will add another 2x10 cab at some point but realistically i'll be wanting to do 80% of gigs with this cab.

My worry is.. I run my 900w head at about half with a 4ohm 212.
Am I going to be able to get the same kind of level out of a decent 2x10 which are genrally @8ohm meaning my head will run at 500w.

Comments and thoughts appreciated.

Cabs i'm looking at are.. EA NL 210.. Berg cn 210 and vanderklay 210mnt as they are all small neo and light and all have great reviews.

I have a berg CN210 and still own two Epifani NYC 2x10s (ceramic and heavy as sin - gotta sell those bad boys!)

I like the CN210 quite a bit - not as much as the old Epis - but it also can easily be carried with one hand (the Epi - not so much).

The form factor of the CN210 is kind of odd - it's not the traditional deep cab with two 10" speakers, side by side. Find one and check it out.

I use an Avatar 2X10 4ohm with Neo magnet speakers for everything my band does. Mic'd/ non- mic'd bars/theatres to outdoor events and never had an issue cutting through or being heard. I use an Aguilar TH350 head and always have volume to spare. Cab sounds great as well. To my ears, it was an upgrade to the 2 aguilar GS112's I was using prior (still have 'em as backup if I ever need).

Sure, it has two 10s in it, but I'd call it a 210/5/T. It also costs $456 more than a CN210.

I don't know anything about the Bareface 210. I've played one of their 610s and was unimpressed.

yep is way better with the 4x10 but it's stupid heavy and takes up loads of room and has to be carried by 2 strong people.. The nx 212 was supposed to solve the weight issue but keep the volume but I just don't get on with the 12's tone or dispersion.

I'm trying one of these In a few weeks along with the ea nl 210. Secretly hoping either of these will be loud enough and work well for my preferred genres

The CN210 is hella loud. I'll be using it at an outdoor gig next weekend.

Check out Bill Fitzmaurice cabs.I have a BFM 2x10 that seems to do it all and certainly stands up to most 4x10s

Loudness in the current context is pretty subjective.; one person's "heck loud" is another person's "sounds like a mouse fart".

The OP appears to be looking for a 2x10" cabinet which has the ability to go louder than his current 2x12". Given the laws of physics, that is a pretty difficult task. From the cabinets discussed thus far, the FEARLESS F210 looks like the only one which might be able to surpass a 2x12" for maximum SPL. Additionally, I think that the OP may not have understood that the dispersion of a vertical 2x12" is superior to that of a typical 4x10" cabinet.
