$20 bass find: did I do ok?

Went to the going away party for a friend who was leaving town and picked this up for $20 after he was going to sell it as part of a yard sale the next day...
 
Yep. $20 well spent. I like that weird Danelectro styling but wouldn't pay full price for it. $20, no hesitation. Bridge looks like it's too vintage tech to intonate, but I've never owned one.

The bridge is definitely retro-low-tech, but you can get surprisingly close if you fiddle with it enough. At least on the E and G, and hope the A and D fall in line...

How is the neck?

If this is a 60's era Danelectro, I don't believe they came with truss rods, hence the low survival rate.

When I was looking at these in guitars, about 1 in 20 were playable.

You can get it to intimate though you might be giving it to a tech to make a bridge that is better and allows you to go back to the original.
