2011 NFL Preseason/ The Beginning

Pfft...preseason losses don't mean squat...nor do preseason wins...

...you REALLY think the Ray-duhs are a better team than the Cowgirls?

;)

I know the Saints are a better team than the Pay-tweets...

Gotta bust your stones though :D. As I've said I hate the preseason:rolleyes:. Guys playing full on games that don't mean squat, taking chances of season/career ending injury.

If you can't tell how a rookie will perform on the practice field, you don't need to be a coach.

The Rayduhs got their season highlight reel last night. Only other highlight they'll top is the Police blotter and NFL personal conduct policies. :D

Whatchu been smokin' Tony????

Funny of the day.

Glad I could be of service :)

I don't smoke; only thing I'm high on is the sweet, sweet, yet all too unfamiliar aroma of a victory.
I'll ask you like I ask the kid I mentor: My team has been abysmal for the past 8 years. Y'all keep getting top-notch players, yet no playoff success. I keep waiting to see the 'boys in the Super Bowl. My team just sucks; what's your excuse?
:D:D

In regard to the Saints, I am most interested to see how the defense plays with one more season under Williams. I expect them to play much better this year.

We are 100% in agreement on this, and based on a few snippets of performance last night, I believe we will see just that - improvement.

There was a lot of very vanilla schemes, just checking out the full-speed skills of a few guys last night, and as I mentioned, a few of them looked quite good.

We won't know exactly what GW has planned until 9/9/10...but if I were a Barney, I'd be concerned....

:ninja:

I don't smoke either man ;) But you guys just got your highlights for the season yesterday. We'll play a Super Bowl in our own house this year;)

Mark It !

Sheesh...

....get it right, it's 19-0 to win the SB undefeated!

:rollno:

;)

And, while I'm crazy about my team, I'm not stupid enough to start counting preseason wins as a sign of anything, anymore than I am going to count losses as anything.

Instead, I will comment on what I did see:

Junior Gallette will be playing on Sunday this year - he was a one-man wrecking crew when he was on the field.
Jonathan Casillas looks very solid at LB, and Stanley Arnoux was in the mix and looking good (Arnoux is a favorite of mine, I really want him to do well)
Arrington looked OK, but dropped a sure TD on a slant in the 4th quarter
Larry Beavers (there's a name asking for trouble! ;) ) looked FAST on a few returns, but needs to be more sure-handed to have a chance at making the roster
Both Ramsey and Daniels looked good at QB - not season-long starter good, but 3-4 games keeping us out of trouble good, so I'm comfortable with our backup QB situation
Kickoff and punt coverage were awful, there are some guys that will be getting pink-slipped this week from those players
Only injury for us: Thomas Morestead had a minor dislocation of his shoulder - because he was making a tackle on a long runback allowed by the awful punt coverage. It appears he will be fine, but the good news is that Garrett Hartley (PK) filled in very well for him.

There are areas that were sloppy, need a lot of work in all three phases, but the pieces are in place, and the coaches have a good picture of who will and won't be up to the task now.

I like the Saints but I'm a Patriots fan... This sure sounds like a lot of sugar coating for a first team defence that gave up two rushing TD's and a field goal to the Patriots in the red zone last night. Looked to me like the Patriots just ran over the Saints. Yeah, it is only pre-season... But I thought the Saints would look better. )-(

Anyway else think this'll be a good year for my Texans? I have a 10-6 season expectation, finish behind colts, then win wild card, lose first round playoffs. Which would be GREAT. Am I dreaming?

Nah man, I see you guys getting a wildcard spot, and if you're lucky enough to get San Diego for the playoff match-up, you might end up making the divisional championship game.

If it was based solely on offense I could see a much better record. But the rush defense is pretty bad, and Robinson went to Atlanta(good guy, just wanted to play in his hometown). Any one know how long Cushing is suspended? (I really hate that guy, just admit it man everyone knows.)

It was 4 games, but they are appealing it, so it probably won't be weeks 1-4, or it might be less than that.

Pfft...you sound like Link Removed idiot.

:rollno:

You REALLY think that the Saints are going to play anything but vanilla in the preseason? Seriously?

They already HAVE the #1 offense from last year returning all 11 starters, and on defense they have 10 of 11 from the SB starting roster. The coaches are looking at the rookie and new FA guys to see if and how they'll fit in at their respective positions.

Do I think they were perfect? Heck no, they have a LOT to work on.

Do I think that the game was any kind of indication of the team or the level of play we'll see on 9/9/10? HELL NO! But, if you, and morons like the guy that posted the article I linked above wanna THINK that, it's fine with us. That is exactly what happened on 11/30/09, isn't it?

;)

...please, everyone, underestimate 'em...discount 'em...assume that last season was an aberration, and here come the 'Aints all over again.

That worked out just fine last season, didn't it?

:smug:

Tennessee game is at halftime now. I'm disappointed. Not in how the team is playing, but in how we are acting. Starting QB in a fight on the second drive of the game, and defense into a fight at the half. Gotta be more disciplined than that. I expect more out of a team the Jeff is coaching.

/Rant

Stafon Johnson may have suffered a serious injury. Sad news for us because he was set to be the #2 back and KR/PR. Hopefully he bounces back.
