2013-14 NHL Regular Season Thread: Second Period

Two big wins for the Flyers. I'm not going to get too upset about the Pens losses, but when Bylsma said this, "They did a lot of what we expected. We weren't able to handle it...", I was sort of frustrated.

Another one to chalk up to Byslma. Loved it when he said during the game how the Penguins were a "grinding" team. Huh? They sure look beter when they open it up and pass the puck around than when they try to hit people and grind it out along the boards.

I also thought the officiating was horrendous, but I'm certainly not blaming the loss on that. Seems like officiating in general has been pretty bad lately. Thought it was pretty poor during the Chi Det game as well.

Chicago fans are the worst honestly. Nearly 60% of them are band wagoners from 2010 or 2913. Ridiculous. I thought Boston and Vancouver had the worst fans. I guess not.

I should've expected bandwagoners to jump on every Stanley cup winning team. Not sure how many are left on the LA bandwagon. Anyon? Raise your hands if you bandwagoned in 2012!

Great weekend! Crosby held pointless and a -3 in the first game. Weekends like this are when I love being a Flyers fan!

Me too. And I have a 1989 Kings Media Guide that I got personally signed by Luc himself, Mike Krushelniski, Robb Stauber (back up to Kelly Hrudy) John Tonelli and others. I'll see if I can locate it and take pictures.

Doesn't matter. Pens still have Bylsma and Fleury. Neither can win big games anymore.

Same here. Dan...the rest of the league has figured you out. Time to adapt and switch up, or move on. I don't know how many more superstar players you need on the roster before you figure out just throwing them out on the ice doesn't equal wins in the playoffs.

As for the Flyers peanut gallery, when was the last time you guys won a *big* game? Big as in winning the Stanley Cup big. I don't mind waiting while you go search for the last time.

Caps never made the eastern conference finals or the cup finals at all but they have a decent fanbase. Props.

I agree with you on most, but you gotta be crazy if you think the Caps have one of the most loyal fan bases. When I lived in Maryland I'd get all fired up for every Pens Caps game and when I'd try to trash talk all my friends who were Caps "fans" the day of the game, none of them even knew what I was talking about. I'm sure there is a small group of very loyal fans just like any team has, but for the most part, in DC hockey is just a time filler between football and baseball.

I still remember the days when Flyers players were doing ads to get Flyers fans down to the Caps games!

Then you have the Detroit/Washington Finals in '98 where Detroit must have had 5,000+ fans bussing down to Washington and the arena still wasn't full for a Stanley Cup Final game!
