While there is a lot of truth here, I think that the reason Holmgren was "promoted" was to get him out of the GM position.
Going with the pizza analogy.....if your boss handed you the best dough, sauce, and cheese in the world than told you to start making pepperoni pizzas, should you be fired when you can't?

Kings wake up in the third and get the split. Interesting in the interview after the second, Williams mentioned that wearing down the Hawks will give results later in the round. Let's get ready to rumble.
Hawks are a fast and skilled team. The Kings HAVE to step up their defense and prevent Kane, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, and to an extent, Andrew Shaw from having the puck.
Keith and Seabrook are one of the best defensemen I have ever seen. Doughty is definitely up there but wow.
Forget Crosby or Malkin. Give me Keith and Doughty and they can shut down any dynamic duo.

... to get him out of the position and get Hextall in there before other GM spots opened up and Hextall was lost. That was the real reason. They didn't want to lose Hextall again. Philly media had Holmgren stepping down after another season to make room for Ron, but with all the jobs opening up and Ron's heart set on a GM spot, Snyder took no chances.

Both of Pittsburgh's defensemen of the future are out after shoulder surgery. Pouliot is out 4-6 months, Maatta is out four months. What an awesome offseason so far for the Pens.

Entertaining game on The Night of Ugly Goals. What struck me was how well the Rangers are controlling the wall in both zones. Good to see the Habs get back in it.

Wow, the Kings are serious about winning another Cup. I had to leave for work after the first period. And then when I took my break, it was 4-2.
After falling back in the first, the Kings put the hammer down and never let up. Can't help watching the Kings and thinking about three first round picks of the Flyers.
