2013-2014 NHL Regular Season Thread

That reminds me what Yogi Berra once said, 90% of baseball is mental, the other half is physical. :D

-Mike

Totally. In baseball, that's definitely true because there really isn't a lot of physical movement as compared to other sports, and none more than hockey. It's why a guy with the talent of Albert Pujols can go 2 months without hitting over .200. The mental and physical effort required from hockey is beyond that of any other sport IMO. With baseball, the mental part IS 90%.

A 5-0 Flyer shutout!!! Woo-hoo!!!

Lots to love about last nights game. Crisp passing. Very Disciplined play taking a very un-Flyer like one penalty the entire game. Couple turnovers and giveaways made me cringe but nothing they couldn't recover from.

Glad to see them improving the Goals Per Game number as well as the PP percentage.

Biggest smile on my face is a result of Mason's shutout. He is starting to relieve my fears of the bottom dropping out a bit. It would be unfortunate to see him get cold just as the Flyer's offense is showing signs of life.

ZOMG are the Flyers actually a good team? We shall see.

Pens have been struggling a bit. Feels like "playing their system" lately has been adjusting to whatever the other team is doing, which isn't how you win a Stanley Cup. However, they've been dealing with a ridiculous amount of injuries, and some players are just getting back into the feel of things. Hopefully some of the rust is gone tonight. Both Crosby and Malkin are on a scoring drought and James Neal needs to get things going now that he's played a game or two. I could see the Pens putting up 6+ goals tonight, or just absolutely getting manhandled haha.
