2013-2014 NHL Regular Season Thread

Amen.. I was questioning D gong into that game.. Saw that pass and said *** out loud.. then Saw Eriksson laid out and really was pissed.

BTW it was Bergeron who made that pass. Not a defence-man but a man known for smart consistent decisions.

All that said.. I'm a Boston fan. I think the call can go either way. I think that Orpik has a responsibility in todays NHL to not put the shoulder on his head. I think that he's a top guy who's coming off a head injury induced by a suspend-able offense should be taken into account . But it's a green light scenario with the puck about 3 feet different. If Erickson could have caught that pass it would be WAY more game play.

All the canadian teams really suck this year.

Wait, did i say all? Sorry i meant all of them....except the Canadiens!!!!

Booya motherfu....uh...fu....dgers?

(yeah cause the Habs don't have a habit of having a great first half and a terrible second half or anything....)

It's no secret Shanahan has had zero consistency when handing out punishment. It's hard to even speculate what anyone will get for anything anymore. That Rinaldo play was horrible. Guy just went off the deep end. Glad his missed the big first hook he threw, that could have been bad. You also can't keep punching a guy when he's on the ice in the fetal position.

I decided not to seek out and watch any of the events from the PIT/BOS game Saturday night. From what I read online, it was brutal what Thornton did. When I lived in New Hampshire, he made a couple appearance around where we lived, and I went to one. He seemed like a really nice guy, but he also had that vibe about him that he'd take you out if you pissed him off.

Rinaldo can throw some bombs. He took down Crombeen who outweighs him by some 40+ pounds. Kept on throwing until they hit the ice although Crombeen was out on the way down. Doubtful Rinaldo knew it. Target was locked and he was bombs away!

Rinaldo deserved his penalties, but to not see any on the other side? Come on! Just like what set Hartnell off in the Detroit game, obviously gets interfered with coming out of the zone and the ref won't call it. Took it into his own hands, pounds the Wing who won't skate, takes the penalty. Still no interference call though. That one however ignited the Flyers to come back from the 3-1 deficit.

I can't believe what Thornton did to Orpik. One of the worst things I've ever seen. Speechless.

Hit on Eriksson was clean and what Neal did has nothing to do with what Thornton did and isn't even in the same ball park. What a joke.

IMO the hit would have been clean if the puck was within reach of Eriksson. It was not. Orpik could have let up some, which he didnt. That was the reason Thorton was mad.

I was also really surprised that the first punch seemed to barely glance Orpiks nose and he already looked "out"...not too sure whats up with that. I have HD TV and PVR'd the incident and watched it over and over. I have seen guys in hockey/UFC/pro boxing etc that have taken a wierd glancing shot on the chin that seemed to have more of an effect of a really hard punch (but the first punch wasnt.) But never get knocked out by having a punch glancing the nose. The second punch looked much more damaging.

Let me set the record straight here....I think there should NEVER be a one sided fight where the other guy doesnt want to get into it. If Oprik was playing in "the old days" he would have gotten WAY worse than that. The puck was too far from Eriksson to get hit like that, plain and simple.
