2013-2014 NHL Regular Season Thread

I never expected the Pens to beat the Sharks, especially when I heard Malkin was out. Fleury really played well as did the defense and Megna. Great win for sure.

Now Malkin and Dupuis are injured. The NHLN guys said last night that the Pens are something like 16-2-2 in the last 20 games when Malkin is out.

The outcome was worse, but what about what Orpik did to Eriksson or what Neal did to Marchand? I'm not condoning Thorton's actions; nor am I condoning Orpik's or Neal's. Dirty all around.

But if that's one of the worst things you've ever seen, you can't have seen much hockey in the '70s and '80s.

Bummer deal on the Pens. I was following the game on the NHL Android app since I was at a company event tonight. I stopped checking with a couple minutes left since it looked like the Pens had it wrapped up. A little bit later my buddies in NH started texting me about how the Pens suck. I thought they were kidding me.

Dallas is pretty much shut down with this ice storm - still managed a crowd of a whopping 8,000 for today's game. Not bad with all the public transport down and most of the highways too dangerous to drive on. I can't even get out of my town - all highways in and out are closed. Wish i could have been there today - free hat day, and would have gotten to toss that hat on the ice for Seguin.

I don't know how many times they showed the Orpik hit on Eriksson on the Pittsburgh TV network, but it was clearly a head shot and should qualify as a suspendable hit. As should Neal's head shot on Marchand.

The only people who believe this are Boston homers. Go look at the internet.

The hit on Eriksson that is. Neal should be suspended as he likely will be.
