Absolutely correct. As a former Fender 100T owner myself I can tell you this is precisely why I sold the 100T and moved to a V4B. The V4B seems to move into overdrive in a far more euphonious way than the 100T. I found the 100T moved into overdrive too quickly and was too harsh sounding for my purposes. The V4B was a significant improvement. Of course YMMV - horses for courses and I know many prefer the 100T simply because of this.

2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

Well, since I happen to have a V4B, two 210AVs and a 212AV outside in the band room at the moment I just popped out and did a very quick five minute side by side comparison. Of course, Tom is right (is he ever wrong?
). To my ears the 212AV sounded tighter and the two 210AVs were louder in a "room filling" kind of way, if you get my drift. But to be honest, I don't think the difference in volume was sufficient to make me choose one over the other on volume alone - if I was in a situation where one 212AV did not suffice I think I would be reaching for more than a pair of 210AVs to make the difference.

I'm in rig rethink mode, and have a pair of the 210AV cabinets in my arsenal. I'm going for that juicy New York blues meets jazz tone - think Saturday Night Live band. I run a Sadowsky with this band. Is the V4B the missing link?

Well don't hold me to it if it doesn't hit your buttons 
but the V4B is probably my favorite design overall of any of their tube amps. That and the new PF50T, which is basically a V4B with 50 fewer watts.

@Tim1 The Fender Neo 115 just does it all really well. Sounds great, handles gobs of power and is light as budgery!
A couple of gigs recently I could easily have used the NV412 but for ease I took the 115.
But there has been a few smaller gigs of late. ...... so, again, the 115 is enough.
On my side. ..I'd love em to bring the neo 610 down here for me to have a go at.

After a loooong hesitation I think I will order a V4B to my local store on tuesday.
The V4B with the SVT 212AV is the best rig tone wise I've ever owned. If you ever need more volume just get another 212AV, that's what I'm gonna do. Not so much a need for me I just want the full stack and it will be there if the need arises.
Well, three actually. An acoustic and two electrics. The electrics play through relatively small amps (40W Fenders), but crank them pretty good. Also have a fairly heavy handed drummer with a rock kit.
A clip of my V4B (and Fender 410 Neo) from yesterday afternoon at the Carrboro Music Festival in North Carolina. I also got to listen to the rig from the audience when the bass player in the next band used it. Heaven.

I can't find the Bassman 410 neo sensivity specs anywhere . I would be curious to know if it's more than 99dB.

That's actually a 2009 American Standard P Bass (with Lindy Fralin pickups that I installed to replace the stock), strung with LaBella FS flats. One of my best scores ever -- picked it up on eBay four years ago for a relative bargain. It plays *really* well. I often gig with a '69 P Bass, but this one gets its share of the action too.
'Fraid I don't know about the sensitivity specs. I'm looking to see if a manual came with the cab, but so far no luck.
