2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

And yes, for two, slight weighty (66lbs), squatty, wide cabs, they weren't hard to load/unload. I used a nice, fold away, cart with 4" rubber wheels. I'd take one cab in, then second cab w/V4-B on top out of back of my SUV *Honda Pilot. I just laid a small, thick carpet on bumper of my ride and lean each cab as I slid them into/out of cargo area onto the folding cart. They really don't feel to be 66lbs, they feel lighter. The darn V4-B feels heavier to me. Prolly cause of that single, rubber strap on top. I usually give it a big bear-hug to move it around. I just sold off my two, 112AV cabs last week. I felt it was easier, quicker to move the single 212AV about. And at just 55lbs, this BF cab is even easier to haul.

I'm really thinking of ordering a couple rubber/leather strap handles to install on each side of this head to make for a easier two-handed schlep. Any issue with screws going into the side of this amp for the install of strap handles, y'all?

I have a little aluminum cart built for an old Ashdown cab I had that fits the 212AV perfectly. So I can just stack and roll the whole caboose.

S.O.S. I'm getting a rattle from inside my V4B (purchased in the fall) and it's driving me crazy. I can't figure out what it is. Kind of a glassy rattle. I did the test where you tap on the power and pre-amp tubes with a pencil eraser head to see if a tube is about to go. I didn't get a noise out of any tube, which is supposed to be the indicator of a bad tube as I understand it.

Any ideas? The rattle (especially noticeable when I hit a fretted E, F or F# on the A string) is just enough to annoy me and have to deal with.

Some people have had problems with the control panel rattling. Try pressing on the front panel in different places and see if it stops, above the input jacks, the pots, the silver toggle switches, the top painted panel section. If that doesn't help, do the same on the back panel mesh plate.

I think that Jimmy is talking about the bear claw retainers that hold the power tubes in place. Spring them back and ensure that the tune is well seated. Check that the mounting hardware is tight. There is a screw and nut on each side of each retainer.

Also check the tube shields on the small tubes. If they aren't on properly they can rattle.

There are a lot of things that can come loose in an amp.
