Yep Pytor Belov is definitely on the who's who list of greats. He's done great stuff for a bunch of companies.

I have a GVT5-110 combo and I like it very much. Unlike many other 5 watt tubes amps - it can play clean at pretty good volumes. I use mine at a weekly rehearsal in a small room - with a drummer and PF800/Heritage 810e (in 410 only mode) for the bass. The little guitar amp does fine keeping up - with the volume @ about 3:00 it is touch sensitive - fairly clean with a light touch and nice tube distortion with a more aggressive picking attack.

It's gonna be all good. Both guys I talked to at Ampeg were very cool. One recognized me as cheezewiz here. I'm famous! :) I have no complaints though. Not thrilled that those defective units shipped and I got 2 of them, but I guess there are bound to be bumps when a new product comes out. I just don't wanna do another weekend of gigs without my new head. :) I definitely give Ampeg CS an "A" so far.

Sounds like you talked to Hodgy, then. H's a semi-regular here, and a legendary figure at Ampeg. Heritage hang tags that he signed make your Heritage amps more valuable to collectors.

Well, My replacement head showed up one week after my original one arrived DOA. This one is perfect and sounds amazing through my SVT112AV. Nothing like the smell of a new amp burning in for the first time. Thinking of getting a second SVT112AV cab to stack on top.
Does anyone have any suggestions for mounting wheels on the bottom cab? Does Ampeg sell them?
Thinking also of replacing the 4 plastic feet on the bottom of the V4B with rubber feet like the SVT112AV cab has.Can't imagine why Ampeg used plastic feet for the head and not the same rubber feet that they use for the cabs. Does Ampeg also sell these?
What a great sounding amp/cab combination. I play 5 strings exclusively and the B string has such great articulation and definition. Massive warmth.
Another happy addition to my Ampeg family.

Glad it got worked out for you. I run mine through the 212AV cab and couldn't be happier. This is the best sounding rig I've ever owned or played through. I'm absolutely loving it.

I would not suggest rubber feet instead of the plastic feet. When you put the amp on the cab the plastic feet allow you to easily slide it into the holes in the cab that hold the amp. Once the amp is in place it is not going anywhere. Also, instead of mounting wheels on the bottom of the cab I suggest going to Lowe's or Home Depot to buy a dolly that can also go down into a cart. I have one and I easily fit my amp, cab, pedal board, cable bag on it. I put my bass in a gig bag that I can carry on my shoulder and it makes for one easy trip of transporting gear.

You can get rubber feet at www.fliptops.net, as well as a host of small parts places you can find with a Google search or Amazon lookup, though I have to kind of agree with Slpbass that they're not needed and you might have trouble fitting them into the footcups on the cabs. My Heritage SVT-CL has plastic feet. They work fine and have held up well, as have the ones on my V4B.

And you can find wheels at any hardware store. I don't know that I'd do it with a 112av, though. They're kind of small for wheeling. I second the cart recommendation. I got one of those Rock 'n' Roller carts because it's light and sturdy. I got the R10, which might be a bit of overkill but the wheels roll very nicely and it'll hold a butt-ton of stuff.

I wish I had picked up the Rock 'n' Roller cart you picked up Jimmy. I like mine but it does not fold up like yours does so I am always trying to figure out how to fit it in my SUV with my 8x10 and other gear. But still, any cart is a huge improvement from carrying each individual item to the stage.

This is true. I also recommend fliptops.net for any Ampeg parts you need. So far I have replaced my wheels and feet on my 8x10 from years of wear n tear and today I ordered a new volume knob that broke off my SVT and 4 new plastic feet as mine have taken a beating after 8 years and not using a road case.

I replaced the plastic feet with rubber ones on my SVT and my V4B.

For me, the benefits outweigh any problems.

I sometimes use cabs that do not have the footcups - I don't want the amp moving on - or damaging the surface of those cabs. Also I own the two Heritage models which don't have real durable tolex - over time the plastic feet will tear up the tolex around the footcups from me occasionally missing the cups on the first try.

Using the soft rubber feet also provides vibration dampening which is beneficial for the longevity of the electronic components in a bass amp (I believe this is why Ampeg installed rubber mounts within the V4B). Also - my V4B was making an audible vibration when sitting on my HSVT410HLF - the softer feet alleviated this problem.

I find it no more difficult placing the amp in the footcups with the soft rubber feet - if anything, if you catch your finger in there, it does not hurt as much.

The only drawback I can think of is they might not last as long - but I would not mind replacing them a few months earlier every time - and there are many suppliers (the plastic one wear out too - and you can't get them everywhere).
