I'm sorry to hear that this is going on. Someone at Loud needs to step up, take ownership of this issue, and resolve it to your satisfaction. Couldn't they overnight another checked out amp to you. Telling you to take it to a service center is deplorable!
I'm really surprised Sweetwater didn't step in and make sure the amp was sent to them first to check out I don't think Ampeg would refuse a retailer that big?

This is giving me cold feet. I have negotiated a good discount and was going to confirm the order in the next day or two (I would use it with a Bergantino NV115 initially) but now I think I will hold off. Down here at the bottom of the world just getting a replacement sent if one is faulty is not an easy matter since there may well be no replacements in the country. If there is a faulty batch going out I would rather wait until the units have all been sorted and tested.

Hodgy, I was hoping I would get you on the phone today. You are by all accounts a good guy. I'm gonna assume your post is not sarcasm implying I'm doing something wrong. I was less than happy when the guy I talked to had to keep repeating to me what "his boss" said. I agree its long odds, but it happened. Don't forget the part of the story where Sweetwater tested one of theirs prior to shipping it for me and it was ALSO dead. So actually there were FOUR dead V4 B in my neck of the woods. Sweetwater is exploring options for me now. As of now, I have two dead V4B here, and I paid for a new working one over 3 weeks ago. To me, this is unacceptable.

If you would check my posting history, you'd see I've been a long time Ampeg supporter. I'm a reasonable, easy going guy. I understand that stuff happens. This is getting a bit trying though.

That sucks because the tone is gorgeous I haven't had any problem with mine so far and to get one bad unit is bad but three is ridiculous I applaud cheezewiz for hanging in there I unfortunately haven't been blessed with that much patience.

Heck yeah, I'm Awesome! Seriously, though. The guy you talked to today did exactly what I would have done, and that is to get your amp to an authorized service center to figure this out. Your other amp was supposed to be on it's way here for me to look at personally. I hope you can look at it from our perspective. The failure rate for these in the last, I dunno, 8 months or so that they've been shipping, has been astonishingly low. So we are as perplexed as you are as to why these would be failing out of the box. Being a tech, I'm extremely interested in getting to the bottom of this.

The other amp will be on its way to you shortly. While I completely understand what you're saying, that still doesn't put a working amp with me.

And, while the overall failure rate may be low, how many did Sweetwater return that were sent to them defective? Again, they tested one out they were going to ship to me, and it was also dead.
