Being a salesman myself, I will say it again that Ampeg should pony up and offer some sort of compensation for your trouble. What if the nearest service center is 100 miles away? Shipping these things isn't easy (or cheap) either.

2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

They picked up the shipping for my returns, because the nearest service center is 80 miles from me. As far as extra compensation, I wouldn't guess that is coming. BTW, someone from Sweetwater, and I don't know which Department is responsible, "forgot" to ship the working head they they said was going out Friday. After 2 reminder emails, it shipped today. So maybe tomorrow, one full month after I paid for my new, in stock head, I will possible have a working one. I certainly hope the 4th time is a charm.

They did not give me the option to divert it to them, nor did I think of it... SMH. There's an authorized service center 15 minutes away. Loud said it is covered in the warranty. I just hope it doesn't take too long to fix because I'm ampless at the moment!
Should be a 10 minute repair, just have to hope they don't have a long waiting list.
Tell ampeg to reroute the package back to their wear house and send out a working model to you today. I would never let a company tell me their product is defective and you need to send it to the warranty shop before using it. Ampeg needs to do a recall and send out new units to everyone.

You're lucky I'm a good car ride away from one but I still would have been pissed.
I think the saga is over. One month later, I have a working V4B. It looks and sounds great at home with my SVT212AV cab. It is plenty loud. I was a little concerned with it being 100 watts. However, the way my luck has been going, I'm taking my Streamliner 600 to the gig this weekend too.
Honestly, after being left in the lurch due to a tube that worked at soundcheck but failed on me in my B-15 right before showtime, I bring a micro backup, too.

Happy to hear that. I'm curious to see how it holds up in a gig with a full band. I just got my SVT211AV and I want to get a V4B. I'm a little nervous about the 100w V4B vs. my 500w PF500.

I'm so glad you finally got a working amp!!! Let us know how it works out at your gig this weekend. I've got a Streamliner 600 as my backup right now too. I haven't even played through it since I got the V4B but need to get it out and do some comparing. Let me know what you think.
I need to get a small backup for my svt. Any recommendations? Also, do you just throw your backup in your cables bag?
I use a PF800 usually, but sometimes I'll use a Micro VR and I used to use a PF350 till a soundman knocked it over and broke the preamp board. If it's strictly a backup and you don't want to spend much, you could do PF350 if you're willing to take a little hit on available volume. I had to buy a new bag for the PF800 but I used to throw the PF350 in a laptop bag.
I may use a pf-500. I have been bringing a sansamp to gigs as a last ditch resort to go direct to the pa. But after all the horror stories I would rather be safe than sorry.
