So.... can anybody comment on what this will sound like compared to the power amp from a B-15R?

In spite of the fact that I have a Fender 100T and an Ampeg SVT-7 Pro, I've pre-ordered the new V-4B. I look forward to comparing them. I use the matching Fender neo 410 with the 100T and the 7 Pro runs through an SVT 410HE. If all goes as I expect, the V-4B will live atop the 410HE and the 7 Pro will go to backup status. We shall see.

my head is a 1972 v4b

Why would you do that? So, what happens when somebody plugs an 8 ohm cab into the hole marked 8 ohms and plugs a 4 ohm cab into one of the holes marked 4 ohms, at the same time?
Why would you do that?
I would run two 8 ohm or two 4 ohm cabs only. Got no interest in trying to make mismatched cabs matchBut I will agree that it's a pretty good question since I know someone will try it. I don't know how the new jacks are wired, so someone from Ampeg directly will have to field that one. All I know is I would never try it just because of the jury-rigging aspect.
It definitely seems counterintuitive to expect somebody with 2 4 ohm cabs to look at the back and go "I see. I'll plug these into the 2 jacks labeled 2 ohm." There are a LOT of posts right here in this forum from people who need help figuring out how to set the impedance selector switch when they plug in 2 4 ohm cabs. I bet a lot of those people will just see 2 jacks labeled 4 ohm and they'll plug both cabs into those.
Good question. From what I've heard, those SVT-100's were pretty good bass amps. But they were slightly modded V5's, which weren't real well received for guitar, whereas a lot of folks loved the V4 for guitar. So that makes me think they've got to be pretty different. What's the difference between an old V5 (SVT-100) and the reissue V4?
Assuming you don't mind each cab getting the same power, plug the 8 ohm cab into one of the 4 ohm jacks and the 4 ohm cab into one of the 2 ohm cab. The 8 ohm cab presents a 1/2 load on the 4 ohm jack and the 4 ohm cab presents a 1/2 load on the 2 ohm jack. Last I knew 1/2 + 1/2 = 1Well say you wanted to run 2 cabs...(1) 8 ohm and (1) 4 ohm. I know what you get when you daisy chain them together but I think it's a good question since there's not a 2.67 speaker out.
