The Oilers were pretty much the worst team in the league defensively. If he got to play regularly behind a good team, he would put up much better numbers and could be a starter - and I think at minimum, he is a very capable backup.

Dubs was terrible here last season, and with a capable defense corp + Trotz's D-First system. But, then again, he wasn't given a second chance to hold the job. I'm really nervous about this next stretch of games. We're missing Rinne due to Vancouver (thanks guys, hope y'all enjoy fighting for that last playoff spot).

It was a bad dangerous hit and he deserves the two games. He was lucky that Brassard wasn't injured on the play or the suspension would have been longer. I looked back and Marchand hasn't been suspended since January 2012 which surprised me. It comes at a bad time as the B's have finally have their whole team together and have started to play good hockey. It will be a good test of the team to see if they can play through this without it affecting them much.

Marchand has been more chirpy, chippy, pesty lately which is an important part of his game when he doesn't go over the line but this was way over the line. Paille will take his spot on the second line and Caron will rejoin the fourth line.

Tough road trip for the Flames through the division. They're 3-0 on a fiver. The goaltender they called up (Ortio) had his 1st start against the Canucks in game 1, got a SO (1-0), a 1st star in game I against the Canucks, a star against the Coyotes, and has been stellar in the other win against the Sharks as well. Another tough one against the Kings tonight, should be good as they seem to be getting the confidence they had during that tremendous run at the start of the season before they lost the 8 in a row. They had a huge win against the Kings coming from behind 3 nothing to beat the Kings in OT the game before the Christmas break that broke that losing streak. Sets up tonight's game even more for what should be a good one.

Ortio was the 1st star last night along with Monahan and Wideman. The Flames were outshot something like 30 to 18 but managed to win in OT with a goal by Wideman that bounced in and out hitting the camera. After play was whistled down they went to a replay, and there you go 2-1 in OT. Their record against divisional opponents is really impressive, if Ortio comes up big and they can squeak out another win vs. Anaheim Wed. night, it'll be 5-0 on this divisional road trip.

Many of my buddies a Leaf fans, they have been promised changes and playoff runs for years by various management and ownership reps. I feel bad for the diehards. The Leafs are the richest team in the NHL, it costs a family of 4 a minimum of $400 to get the crappiest seats in the arena, throw in some hotdogs and a beer or two and you are pushing $500.

All that to see your team flounder year after year.
