2014-2015 NHL Regular Season Thread

Come on Philly. Win a game already. I don't need the Flyers first win coming in Pittsburgh on national TV Wednesday.

I find it interesting how the ESPN.com website has the playoff scenario tab already up for the NHL. A little eager, eh?

The win against Detroit was a nice turn of events; the Montreal loss was not unexpected but it is still irritating - 2 points was 1 or 2 more than I thought they would get on this trip. The C's do seem to have the B's number especially Rask. The only good news is that the B's are starting to score and starting to play with a bit more life - the final was 6-4 with a C's empty netter.

Ready for the wild to play tonight. Weird schedule. Wild plays 2 then off for a week. Anaheim plays 4 road games before home opener. Some teams have played 6 games already. What!?

Very strange indeed. B's have already had two back-to-backs with Detroit and Montreal getting the B's on the second night for their respective home openers. The Detroit game was the second of the year so the B's should have been livelier. Fatigue was a factor last night against the Habs; but at some point down the road the B's will have the benefit of an easier schedule - these things tend to even out over the year.

Yay, I'm glad Martin is back in the NHL. I think he broke some of Roy's records, so that will be an interesting relationship.

The Av's have a former Seattle Thunderbird on the roster as a goalie, but I don't think he's all that great. Not that I am any better of course.

Way to go habs!! Man, if there was ever a team that could use Brodeur its the Edmonton Oilers. How is it possible they keep getting all of these talented kids, yet they still suck??
I think Brodeur would be a great fit. he would whip those boys into shape in no time flat!

Stars lost a weird one tonight at home. Sucks but the season is young. One of our young D men got his wrist cut by a skate. Looks like he will be out for a bit.....
Yeah, I saw that. Totally inadvertent, but it must have been a pretty nasty cut. The Flyers between-the-benches announcer (Chris Therion) said that when somebody goes off the ice immediately, you can usually tell by the look on their face how bad the injury is; and the kid that got cut looked pretty scared. The Stars coach said he'll be out for quite some time, so it must have been pretty severe.

I haven't seen any hockey games for the last few days, which is a bummer as I think the free Center Ice preview is over now.

Here's a cool article about Detroit coach Mike Babcock and his coaching tree: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I saw some highlights of the Detroit OT win and the goal from Z. Franzen also added a couple in that game. I hope those two stay healthy.
