I gigged the p-bass V tonight. It is about 2 lbs lighter than the Sire with a very solid p-bass tone. The Sire has a great Jazz tone and an outstanding pre-amp. But, all in all I think I like the p-bass V better for its' weight and chunky tone.

Bought one bass, an Andrew Drake Cricket with dad's name to go with moms bass Andrew made in 2015.Band 1 gigged every other weekend and band 2 once a month so I got lots of playing time in and morphed from crappy to mediocre with hints of average!

I threw a set of Nord Nj4s in my JB-2. Bought a Peavey Millenium that I'm probably going to resell. Tried a Berg HD112 cab just to realize that it's too hifi for my tastes (currently for sale). Now about to purchase a Mesa Subway 115 to tomorrow to pair with my shuttlemax 9.2.
Played a little mini run of gigs in west hollywood for the first time at the viper room, the rainbow, and whiskey a gogo.
It was a pretty good year. Hopefully next is better.

Equipment wise this was a good year spent trying and testing gear acquired in '16. (Don't know about you, but I'm not good enough to quickly determine if a bass is just right for me, or where the sweet spot in an fx pedal is.) Which gave me the strength to resist a few tempting purchases. Performance wise I finally broke away from a band I had helped start many years ago but constantly confronted me with a toxic personality (anybody wanna guess which member that was), and found a fun band with cool people who needed a bass player that I have played many shows with and already have some booked for 2018. Things are moving forward.
There's a limiting barrier with frets, so no.
Pretty quiet. I don’t think I bought anything bass related, not even strings. I don’t think I saw anything bass related come into the market that was anything out of the ordinary.
2017: very good bass year for me... resumed playing bass guitar after a 15+ year hiatus. Added three aluminum-necked basses to the fold (Hartke, Vaccaro,Kramer). Finally bought a FRETLESS (Wishnevsky!). Learned that I much prefer four-strings to five-strings. Rediscovered the joys of solid-state (Carvin, Tech21). Discovered the joys of Hartke speakers. Now have a 250 watt, 3-10s bedroom rig.

....because it's the year I was finally able to discover Modulus basses!
2017 was great for me for many reasons
Gear wise I found a great deal on my dream bass the Warwick thumb NT6. Was also able to put together a rig I Love after discovering the awesome combination of Darkglass and Avalon.
But as happy as I am with gear. I think the experiences really topped all. 2017 was very hit or miss with show turnouts but we played to some huge crowds this year.
I also got to play a gig with one of my bass hero’s
But I’m probably most happy about the album we put out and the men my band mates have become. When we started 17 years ago we were all working crappy minimum wage jobs playing what gear we could afford. Now all have great jobs, families, and great gear lol.

Loved Fayetteville back in the 80s, playing venues no longer there.....

That was my Thumb bass! I sold it to you.. Excellent instrument with Delano dual-coils, Audere 4-band Z-mode pre-amp, and 3-way coil tap switches for each pickup. I'm so happy that you are playing her and letting the masses hear that beast of a bass!!

2017 has turned out to be the year in which I sold all my old school gear and a couple of vintage instruments that were gathering dust, but I did do rather a lot of pedal acquisition (although still have nothing like the big boards you see on the breeders' page). Still more pedals to acquire though, and I do have GAS for a fretless 5 or 6...
My "buy of the year" was definitely the Revelation RPB65F fretless P copy, astonishingly good for 120 UKP and even compares well against my Wal Pro One fretless.

In 2017 I finally started buying new gear, after 15 years of no new purchases and working it way too hard.
Put together my first pedalboard.
Bought a PJ Carvin with roundwounds (my first four string bass in a decade)
Got a micro amp.
Pulling the trigger on new cabs next week.
More than that, I started coming back into jazz, relearning the American songbook, soloing, and heads. I quit a band that was causing more grief than joy and started learning to say no.
Put together my first pedalboard.
Bought a PJ Carvin with roundwounds (my first four string bass in a decade)
Got a micro amp.
Pulling the trigger on new cabs next week.
