Let's see . . . . take a one man shop (say, actually a small business) that saw runaway success and a backlog that would be eventually harmful to the long term, though you did have a respected 2nd line with Japanese production.

Fall for a Euorpean suitor who is now going to (try) to build your axes as well as the original, change contractors in the Far East, and do all this against the full stop of COVID, the worldwide container shortage, materiel and labor shortages and disruptions, everything that happened.

I'd have expected this to have a rockier start than was hoped and planned for: In that time frame, what didn't?

I also expect this ship to right itself quickly and seems to be doing just that. I've seen Sadowskys of the various product lines here in Nashville here at Corner Music, a rare stocking Sadowsky dealer, and would be hard pressed to say any of them were anything less than worthy.

In addition to higher quality craftsmanship all around, the new Sadowsky MetroExpress (SMX) basses have the following upgrades:
  • RSD Removed from the Headstock!
  • Roasted Maple Necks are now STANDARD
  • MetroLine String Retainer
  • Easy Access Backplate
  • PJ Pickups with Single Coil Bridge - J-Pickup are as featured in the MetroLine Will Lee models!
  • JJ Pickups with Single Coil Pickups - J-Pickups are as featured in the MetroLine Will Lee models!
  • Copper Shielded Control Cavity
  • Ball End Frets - Frets have rounded ends!
Ok, now we're talking. Hated that RSD crap. Wouldn't have ever touched one with that mess on the headstock. Horrid!

Exact! That's why those were not even on my radar - and those oval shaped pick guards = whaaa? I don't think I'd ever drop $6K+ on a NYC / I had been considering a Metro, but $3800? Nope! As I mentioned on my earlier post, I ordered one of these new Metro Express - buy to try & prolly an easy flip if I don't relish. Apparently they're due in by next month or September.

If I were buying a Sadowsky, I'd be getting one of the higher end ones, strictly because they come in at a lighter weight that you can know before you pull the plug. My heaviest bass is 7.74 pounds (and that's a full scale 5'er). I have no use for basses that are much more than that.

I'm interested in a 5'er but i think ill wait to see how they are received. I have the utmost respect for both Roger Sadowsky and Warwick, so I'm hopeful they are legit good basses.

Even though they're entry level, they are not cheap basses and the competition has very nice features and specs.

Of all the things about my RSD, the headstock does not faze me at all. I wanted the Sadowsky neck and the preamp. I admit, there was a time when the headstock would have bothered me, but I guess I'm just past that sort of thing in my old age.

I forgot you have that nice Modern. If Warwick has dropped the ball on anything, it is the sound of their Moderns. They pretty much sound like Jazz Basses instead of dual humbucker active basses with pickups close to the bridge.
Where I really hear the difference is on the low B string. On the Modern it has a thick, powerful sound whereas with the Jazz style Sadowsky it has that Jazz Bass quality.
