$2K: Which would you buy?

It's a tought one for me as you have four Jazzes, two PJ's, one Ric.
Are you looking for something different than you have now or more of the same?

If it was me, I'd lean towards the Sadowski Metro 5, Tony Franklin P as those I've played and liked.
As much as I like the looks of Rickenbackers I never got on with them, but I do like when others play them

Someone probably already corrected you but the Tony Franklin is a Precision, I have a fretless TF bass and it is one of the nicest playing, best sounding basses I've ever owned. Incidentally, everyone should own a Ric.

Our band just hosted a charity music fest with six bands and many bass models were on the stage. Lull, Lakland, Warwick, Fender, Gibson. But the bass that dwarfed the others, and it wasn't even close, was a $1k Reverend Triad. The tones were STUNNING! Pbass and Jazz bass on steroids. It has three pickups and a five position PUP selector switch. My jaw was on the ground, it sounded so good. The drawback for me is that they don't make it in a 5 string, as I gotta have that for church. But, man, that thing was sweet. They have a fiver called a Mercalli 5 that has my attention ($1200). And they come with roasted maple necks, which supposedly ages/stabilizes it like a twenty year old neck. You may want to try one out if you can find a dealer near you on their website.

Dat be it! Quarter pounder humbuckers in the P and J configuration on a fiver. And it has a unique to Reverend locking bridge. You get your action and intonation set and then lock each string setting in.

They go for over $900 new so I couldn’t pass it up. Really, getting great deals is probably why I have no high dollar basses. Looking for bargains was an adaptation I made after racking up too much credit card debt in the Nineties and early 2000’s.

Voted for the Ric because it’s so different. If I actually had that money I’d buy a MIM Geddy Jazz and a nice amp. Either that or I’d try to find a Fender Custom Shop.
