They'll build whatever bass you want in whatever configuration you want. All you need to do is ask.
Reality hit me today that it is time put GAS aside because my daughter got her first acceptance notice today. There is a good chance that she might get a full ride, but even then, she will be far away and I need funds set aside for travel and to eventually buy her car. After I pay off my Geddy Lee, any upgrade will have to be funded solely by trades or selling basses I currently own.

I voted Sandberg, doc. I’m actually gassing for one myself lol. Preparing to sell one of my Warwick Thumbs, as it is too heavy for my messes up shoulder. Am looking at Sandberg and the Ibanez 2400 they have out now (have a pair of Ibanez and loved em both).
And congrats on your daughter getting a full ride! You must be proud as heck!

As for the new bass purchase... I'm not sure about you, but I funded my recent VM4 entirely through selling other stuff. In the past year I came to realise I had way too much gear that I rarely used or needed... so I've been downsizing, a lot, but ensuring that whatever I keep is going to be *really* nice.
It feels good to own fewer nicer things, and my pocket is heavier which is nice

There may be an easy way to a change. The store where the Geddy is on layaway also a has several 4003S/5’s in stock. The Rics are about to go on sale at $250-$300 more than the Geddy. Switching the layaway to a slightly more expensive bass should be easy if I chose to do it. I played the Rics at two different stores after choir rehearsal. The first stores always gets crazy hum out of single coil pickups because of the wiring. The Ric was no exception, but with tone at 50%, the hum was nearly gone. With the treble on full and the amp cranked, the Ric served up that knife edge brightness that Rickenbacker does well. I love that tone! I played a 4003S/5 at another store through a Fender Rumble 200, and it put out a good slap tone, but not as Jazzlike as a four string 4003S. The hum was MUCH less at the second store with better grounded electronics.
Slapping some basslines I know was a tad trickier on the Ric. It seems that .5mm makes a difference because I have no issues on my 17mm Sire V7. That said, I am sure the Rickenbacker neck profile makes a big difference too. The bottom line is I can slap on the Ric, but it is a ferocious finger and pick style bass. The question now is do I want to keep a super cool actual Fender Seventies style Jazz or buy a Rickenbacker with a quality B string?

After spending so much money on so many basses through the years.......at this point I’d take the two G’s and save it until I had enough to purchase another Spector NS-2 which is the bass sound in my head, from the music I listened to as a kid.
A lot of what I am pursuing is about chasing the sound in my head or the tones I loved during my youth.
