I will finally get my Fender US Geddy Lee out around Christmas or New Year. The problem is that it has taken me so long to get it, I am not that excited about it anymore (that could easily change when it actually does come home.) I am thinking about letting it go for something a bit more expensive or maybe even something cheaper. This is not a serious poll. I just want to know what some of you think.

All of them - so I could add them to my signature line.

I don’t have the budget to be profligate! So I guess In a way, I’m the lucky one...

My point is I’ve learned to be happy with less. Those are some great basses on your list. Whatever you get I hope you love it and enjoy it in good health :)

Unless one is filthy rich, you ultimately have to accept that you cannot have everything you want.

Sadowsky makes seriously good basses, and if you've wanted one forever, then why not take the plunge. As always, I'd keep an eye out for used samples - more bang for the buck.

For many years, I'd used the Sadowsky Modern 5-24 as my main axe...a Metro, then an NYC. But I learned that certain other body shapes bring better ergonomics for me, and I wanted more old-school in my sound than I was getting from the Modern - so I'm now largely in the Lakland camp, with 55-94 (and a 54-94, with Duncan soap bars and the John East pre, from Carl Pedigo) as my main thing. But I remain a huge fan of the Sadowsky line.

Well, I have a CIJ GLJB and, while it is an excellent instrument, I haven't played it in a year or more.
I have a Rick 4003 and, while it is an excellent instrument, it only gets played once in a blue moon.

My $2k daily or weekly players are a Dingwall Afterburner and a Dingwall Combustion (both picked up used), a Warmoth parts bass (all new parts) and a Kiesel Icon 5 fretless (custom ordered by me a few years ago then converted to fretless).

If I had 2k that was burning a hole in my pocket and I was determined to spend it on a bass.
I would pretend that I only had 1K. I would check and play everything at stores near me and then I would think about stores that I would be near in my next several weeks of travel and such.
If I found something that cost the whole 2k, like maybe a really high end 70's instrument in near perfect shape, I might buy.
But along the way I might pick up and play something from those same years and love it from the moment I pluck the first note. Sure, as rare that my be, it sometimes happens. And sometimes when it does you end up with an instrument that feels great to you and the extra 1k in your pocket for future adventures.
My point. Deciding a budget and spending toward it may be costly besides steering you away from an instrument that you might have overlooked but could really connect with.

I’ve only played the P in the Vintera series, but I was pretty impressed with it. If I were looking for a J I’d try that and their American Original J options.

I’ve also liked Reverend in this price range, but what I’d REALLY like is one of those G&L L-1000 reissues with the old school headstock.
