From Dr. Cheese's list, I think the one that would appeal to me most is the new 5-string Rickenbacker.

Let's see... If I had $2000, I'd use it to replace my current amp with a Bergantino setup.

If guidelines are attached to the $2K that it must be used specifically for a bass, then my theoretical Poll would include: Roscoe SKB/LG 3006 or Century 6 (Used), Rickenbacker 4003sw Walnut, a 1970s Fender Precision (likely refinished), a 1970s Fender Jazz Bass (also likely refinished), Spector Euro 6LX (Used), Warwick Corvette 6 (Used),
Warwick Streamer 6 (Used), EBMM Stingray HH or HS 5, On Reverb there's a Cliff Bordwell 6, Another Reverb item is a Tom Clement 6, Yet another Reverb item less than $2K is a Mike Lull M5V, Yamaha TRBJP2 (Used).

What!? No carrots option? You can get a load of carrots for $2K...

None of the above:

Even an upscale model like the one pictured is going to run under a couple hundred, including the microphone, that leaves a lot of bass budget for jugs marked XXX...

It also naturally encourages 'rock star pose':

I hope you lot appreciate the time and effort it took to find a guy wearing sandals...too bad those overalls weren't cutoffs...

You should get the RICKENBACKER 5 string. It does not sound like a jazz at all to my ears, and it is the most unique bass on your list. And it's tone is iconic and cannot be replicated by any other bass. It would truly add diversity to your already diverse arsenal. IMHO. Plus, from a collector's point of view I'm pretty darn sure it will have the highest resale value. Plus, it's real purty!

Edit: Deep down, I think it's the one you REALLY want!!!!

I voted Sadowsky.

Geddy Lee would be my second choice but only because I'm a huge Geddy Lee fan (and I'd go for the sunburst!).

Though the only on on your list that sort of rubs me the wrong way is the Ric. I've just never liked the aesthetics - they do have a cool unique look, just not something I would personally rock (though I do love that tone).

But since you're looking at a 4-string (Geddy Lee) maybe your arsenal needs something P Bass-like in a super comfortable Spector body :)

I will finally get my Fender US Geddy Lee out around Christmas or New Year. The problem is that it has taken me so long to get it, I am not that excited about it anymore (that could easily change when it actually does come home.) I am thinking about letting it go for something a bit more expensive or maybe even something cheaper. This is not a serious poll. I just want to know what some of you think.
Ricky.
