Go for the Ric. I'm sure you have enough J basses to cover your needs and the sound of that Ric you're playing in the video sounds good through my laptop speaker and that's saying a lot.

As you already know, I respect the build quality of the Sadowsky basses, but over time, I have decided that I like other preamps better than the Sadowsky preamp.
You were speaking facts when you said, ”I do not think they are head and shoulders superior to other Jazz Basses. The Sadowsky preamp is nice, but I know it is not better than Sire’s.”
Personally, I like the tone of the Sire and Geddy Lee more than the Sadowsky tone. I think after purchasing the Sadowsky you will eventually realize that it wasn’t worth selling your Geddy Lee, and that it does not sound better than you Sire.
However, with that said, I think you need to pull the trigger on the Sadowsky to get it out of your system.

I am leaning heavily towards keeping the Geddy or getting the Rickenbacker since I can either from the same dealer. The Sandberg would be easily doable since I could go to Chicago Music Exchange and do a trade there. A Sadowsky MetroExpress is maybe doable at Bass Club Chicago if they have an Express in stock. If I have to buy from Sadowsky, I would need to sell stuff, and selling stuff is a crapshoot in addition to being time consuming.If I am on my death bed and not having a Sadowsky is a regret, it would mean I must not have had many things go wrong in my life.

Zebra wood is marketing! It 's laminated wood with different colours.
That does not make it bad. Real "Zebrano" which is natural, looks like this

Honestly, none of the above. There are too many stupid deals on great basses for me to spend that kind of money on fairly run of the mill stuff. No offense. But that's me.
Hint: that crazy six string fretless I got was $900. The Brubaker KXB5 Custom singlecut was $1,400.

The answer is always Sadowsky.
That's a TB classic, typically followed by "what was the question?".
I am not offended. The best deals are always great used basses. If I had it to do again, I would not have started this layaway, but with my oldest starting college, this won’t happen anymore anyway.
Used deals are great.... but.... Sometimes you have got to be the first owner....
True, there are no used basses if no one buys new basses, and sometimes it is just fun to have a new bass.
If I had 2K to spend on a bass, I'd run to the nearest shop and get a Gibson TBird.
I love the deals you can get with a used bass and you can find many nearly mint basses at great bargains. But I don't totally agree with those that are constantly advising people who are thinking of buying a new instrument to BUY USED.
Like you said, there would be no used basses. But there would also be no NEW basses because companies would be going out of business!
I bought a couple of used Spector basses and fell in love with them so I promised myself the next one I would purchase would be new because I wanted to support the brand, so I got a brand new Euro 4LX a few months ago. And it is fun know you're the first to own a particular instrument - also feels good to support a company making a product you really enjoy and believe in.
I won't download bootleg movies or music for similar reasons - I want to fully support the artists and all the behind the scenes people because without that support, they'd be out of jobs/careers.
Obviously, I have nothing against buying used instruments and will surely pick up another at some point, but, finances allowing, everyone should buy a new instrument at some point to support the industry and their favorite brands.
