I prefer subtle 2-tone bursts, but I have a GL with the red that i really like,too.
It’s one with a definite black halo, and black sides and back. (Which i like better than having the back match the front).

In general I’m not the biggest fan of sunburst.
It would never stop me from owning a sunburst instrument (I always wind up with one it seems), but if there’s such a thing as “too traditional”, then I guess sunburst is it.
My old 1997 Gold big flake Flea bass was proof that there’s no color that will deter me from owning a bass if it plays and sounds good enough.
