I used to run a 1x15+2x10 setup.I have a bigbutt Peavey 1x15 cabinet at our practice space, but it's not quite enough volume so I'm wanting to add something to it. Don't really need more bottom end, need more volume.
So, what would you add to the 15? Another 15, or a 2x10? I'm leaning towards the 2x10 so it will be up higher and will add some frequencies that the 15 does not. I know how some people feel about mixing driver sizes and all that though...would the 2x10 reach it's limits way before the 1x15? I guess a 4x10 is an option as well if that would be the best way to go by a wide margin.
This.I think I'm just gonna forget the whole thing and buy some raw drivers and build my own cabinet. I can get some awesome 1000w 15" car audio drivers for like $49 and they should be a lot louder than the Peavey because those speakers have 1000 watts. They also have 10" but they only have 700 watts but that shouldn't be a problem. I'll just get 3 of the 10's to distribute the power then build one big box for all the speakers to share since the more space they have the better they will sound. I'll probably add a tweeter horn as well.

Time to invest in Orville Redenbacher everyone!
Actually all else being equal, a 15" has slightly more displacement than two 10" drivers. It's a rehearsal space, not a venue. The mixed driver thing shouldn't matter there. Plus, you can stack a 210 vertical and probably hear it better. Furthermore, it should move more air, having more cone surface area than a 115
