Well...I toured with a 215 rig from 1971 through 1973 and then gigged with it until 1976 when it was stolen along with my 1965 Jazz Bass.

It was a Standel MCIIb/SAM30b piggy-back amp. The MCIIb was the super-light head which only held the preamp. The SAM30b was the very heavy and deep 215 powered-speaker bass reflex cab with 4 round ports stacked vertically just to the left of the speakers. Those ports really put out a LOT of air (would flap my bell bottoms). It held two CTS 15" speakers with HUGE magnets and had two 100-watt amps inside. Each amp drove its own speaker. Those 15" CTS speakers were perfectly matched to their amps. So was a 200-watt set-up and was ungodly loud.

Don't really have a good picture of the amp but you can sort of see it here. This is sometime in 1972. If I still had it and my '65 Jazz, I would probably still be using both. Notice the goose-neck on the mic. That made it easy to position the mic without using a boom...hmmm...maybe I should get another one of those... All the gear in this picture was stolen that night in 1976, which put a quick end to my gigs for the next 20-years. I was married with two kids by then and money was scarce.

I still haven't built my CB158 box, but I love small punchy sealed 15 boxes. Both in sound, and for the cute factor. The whole world has run out of everything though. Lumber might be more than the speakers soon

Yeah, that really put a damper on things. Next door neighbor had two guitars though and we'd play songs and sing together. He had a 6 string and a 12-string. He really liked his 6-string, so I was using his 12-string. That Christmas, my wife bought it for me. Only gigs I did with the guitar were weddings and such, plus play for friends and family when they asked for it. That guitar finally died though. The first bridge curved down onto the top of the guitar and would buzz. Had a luthier put on a bridge that anchored around the back (tailpiece) and that worked for a lot of years. But eventually the pressure of the strings caved in the back of it. Even so, right now I have 5 guitars in the house. Was great to find my bass in 1985 and even better to start gigging again in 1997 though.

tbh when I pare this down from the full stack (aka The Towering Inferno) I'm more likely to bring one 1x15 and the 2x10, but I have on occassion used just the two 1x15 cabs.

15s have great open sounding midrange if you know how to get at it. The 112 is kind of a midbass cab and just didn't add anything.

I feel the same way about the 115, 112 combination. Two 115s are just better, because the additional midbass supplied by the 112 doesn't have to be accounted for using the eq. Two 115s are a better match, at least for me. My d800+ said so as well.

I feel the same. When I first got my Mesa's I got the 115 & 112. But I've always played through 215s so I got another 115 and loved the 2 115s. Then I got the Mesa 215 when it came out I love it. It's my go to with a D-800+ or a WD800. But I still kept all the other Mesa cabs I had.

Yes the GB215 is a great cab that lacks for nothing. Not only great lows and low mids but excellent upper definition as well.
My two 1x15 cabs are also the old Genz Benz cabs.
My other workhorse is an Ampeg BA115HP and it is fantastic, I just keep the tweeter rolled all the way down.

oops, I just realized you asked for 2 1x15's not a 2x15. Although these days I run a 2x10 and 1x12 for portability reasons, I still love me some 15s.

Let me tell you the best 15" rigs I've run. One is the Sunn set up you see in my previous pic. Not loud, but definitely vintage awesomeness. Those JBLs are badass!

But the ultimate was two Bergantino NV115s with an Ampeg SVT. It slayed everything in its path: demons, dragons, vampires, you name it. If you had to have a rock off with Lucifer himself, That is the rig you'd take into battle.
The grind of the SVT would kick in much sooner and it was flat out nuts.

Bag End also is a great two 1x15 rig...But that Berg/SVT set up...thats what dreams are made of.
