3 pickup basses

This is the only triple P/U bass I have owned. I liked it pretty well, but I am now retrofitting it with a pair of MM style humbuckers.

Interesting. Do you guys do a lot of pickup switching on a gig? Like the way guitar players switch from front to back for a solo? I pretty much just dial in one sound for the entire night.

with mine, I liked it best with all 3 on....very wide tone range

I've posted this before in the other 3 pickup thread. It's a shame really - I never play this bass anymore since I switched to five strings. This neck is just a tad too narrow to convert to 5 string I think. I should think about selling this.

Ohhh yeah. It caught my eyes because my favorite baby lately is an older Billy Sheehan Yamaha with the humbucker in the neck and split coil in the middle; I’ve been wondering how it would sound with a J or a Musicman style pickup at the bridge. I’m not curious enough to risk ruining a great bass to try it, but I sure would like to put that one through it’s paces and see what it can do!

Thanks! You know, I really should make a 5 string version. Maybe keep it all maple like this one, without the tremolo. It is a pretty cool bass, and with the wings routed out like that, it actually turned out pretty light weight. Maybe black hardware, and fewer frets to allow more room for the pickups. Maybe Alumitones. Hmmmm....
