300 Watts vs 200 Watts???

From the guts pic on the Facebook page, these look pretty bad. PCB and still with messy wiring, wires through a hole in the chassis with no grommet, really long screw in there for no reason. All the hardware is pcb mounted, and that's the first thing to complain about in cheap amps.

I'm a newbie when it comes to all tube amps.. Especially like this. What is PCB? And PCB mounted??
 
Printed circuit board, which basically all electronics is built on. PCB mounted means stuff attached directly to it, which is fine for resistors and small stuff, less so for pots and jacks that are subject to stress that can break them free, those things should be secured to the chassis and wired to the circuit so they have some support and give when they are moved. Properly handbuilt amps look like this [assuming link works right]

Wow, ok, that is a mess of PCBs. A mess of wires. That is an epic disaster. There are wires passing through the legs of components F-S!

+1, that's a serious red flag right there. I work as an electronics tech. Some of my teachers would have made me flunk their course if I ever presented them a prototype that looked like this.

Gotcha.. You think that's why they can afford to sell these so cheap?? Should I avoid purchasing one?
 
If you play with a drummer, you will need the extra 100 watts, call it headroom if you want.
As others have mentioned keep an eye on the weight but there will be situations when you will be glad to have the extra horsepower.
It gives confidence to know you will hear yourself even if it gets loud!

I keep hearing this. Not every drummer is stupidly loud.

Well now I'm kind of disappointed/apprehensive about these amps. Guess I'll just stick with my svt-3 pro for the time being. Anyone got any recommendations for an all tube bass head that won't break the bank?

If you want a tube amp that will be built a million times better than that but are on a budget, get a Traynor YBA200-2 or Traynor YBA300. It's not point to point boutique works of art, but it will be better than that mess.

I missed this page before. My first amp build with no on the spot guidance, no previous experience and no layout was messier than that, but that isn't saying much

It would be quicker, easier and neater to wire point to point than to use those PCB's! I can't imagine how much stray noise and interference that is going to generate.

I wouldn't walk but run away from a build from these guys. If they go cheap on the R&D they are also going to go cheap on the components so I wouldn't even recommend it as a project to rebuild.
