3015LF Substitute??

Price wise their really isnt much to beat out the Eminence 3015 and 3015LF

and yes all the big distributors are selling them for $315

but their is many sources still selling them for $179 to $230 dollars
how long will those prices be available? who knows

Musicians Friend as always is the cut rate leader and still holds the best price at $179 they say their out of stock on back order..and then now someone claims they are shipping...so thats good news.

But when the cut raters finally dry up on stock eventually the prices will be around 270 to $315

and at that point their is plenty... yes plenty of drivers that perform equal or outperform the 3015LF

The Ciare 15NDH-3 will keep up with a 3015 and the Ciare 15NDH-4 and 15NDH-4S will keep up or pretty much outperform a 3015LF.... if your going to dump 300 watts of more to get a single 15" speaker to keep up with a band

I see nothing wrong with sneezing at a extra 3 to 7 pounds of weight......because thats not very heavy at all....just a pair of heavy duty handles and a set of casters...can add 7 pounds to a cabinet.

The Faital Pro 15FH500 and 15FH520 will keep up with a 3015LF no problem

and the Faital Pro 15FX560 is very much a amazing speaker and well worth the 300 dollars compared to a 3015LF if you had to buy one at that cost.

The inductance on that driver is .64mH so basically it has the xmax of a 3015LF but has the high end of a 3015.....has a better frame and has a better cone...

the 3015LF has a gap height of 9.2mm
the 15FX560 has a gap height of 14mm.

both claim to have a average of 9mm of xmax........


the 15FX560 can handle 700 watts 3015LF 450 watts

Like i said if and when the price is at $315 I guarantee their is much better buys...

and if you really want to dump tons of power in a single 15" it might as well handle 700 watts instead of 450

and with a inductance of .64 mH you can basically ditch the crossover and run fullrange....crossing over a speaker with that much high end is a waste of a speaker....and raising the crossover point would give you a clanky whistle.

Anyways...if you are looking to build a 1x15, 2x15, Fullrange, 2 way or 3 way loudspeaker.

Here is a list of drivers in the $300 dollar price range, that perform equal or greater than a 3015 or 3015LF

comparable to the equal driver of 6mm or 9mm xmax and 1.2 to .60mH of inductance

Faital Pro

5FH500

5FH520

5FX560

Ciare

5NDH3

5NDH4

5NDH4-S

rather you like ceramic or neo when your looking to go beyond the average 3 to 5mm xmax driver

expect to pay $180 to $300.... their is absolutely no drivers that exceed those xmax ratings for less money.

and if you want to exceed 22mm of Xlim or dwell into 12mm of xmax expect to pay $400 to $600

hopefully i got all those links right and working

Unless you are listening on-axis and in the nearfield, the off-axis performance is usually the most significant contributor to perceived tonal balance. You may prefer the off-axis performance of a cab that beams and thus puts out less high-frequency energy off-axis, but that's not the same thing as the off-axis performance being completely meaningless.

Thanks for the list.

Some of those were around back in 2007 when money was no object I think - I just wanted a good light driver that could do 50 Hz or so in a fairly small box at good high SPL. They got aced for one reason or several, maybe weight, maybe availability/stocking, maybe something else I noticed in sim or datasheet, or had anecdotal gotchas from qualified folk.

A couple of those came along later, when I had actually decided to share the fEARful plans, and at that point cost then became an issue. Putting out a plan that nobody wanted to build because they couldn't easily afford the woofer or depend on it always being available, wouldn't have been prudent, wouldn't have been prudent.

Of course now the cost equation appears to have changed, but I'm guessing the EU neos are going to have some big sticker shock soon too, and I could easily see distributors deciding not to stock ones that were currently available or could at least be ordered.

We'll see.

Just bought a brand new 3015 non-LF from an authorized dealer for $162 on eBay
The 3015LF are selling for considerably more at $315.
Have the LF's always been approx twice the price before the neo price explosion?

I wonder if all these people are aware how bad they be beatin' up on theyse'ves, or if they just don't plan on restocking. You'd think anyone legit would have been told by Em what the deal is loud enough that even with their heads [DEL]up they bu[/DEL] in the sand they would have heard it.
