36 Cheap American Beers, Ranked

I'm confused. I thought it was going to be an article about beer, but they were talking about best carbonated piss, instead.

I don't see any point in drinking cheap beer. If I can't have good beer for whatever reason (money, calories, availability, etc.), I will drink something else.

Beer nuts are funny people.

People?

indeed.

Plus, the guy has the stones to include light beers in his list!

Have you ever actually tasted a light beer?

I did. Once.

Ive made attempts to no avail.

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I was in El Paso and I drank Bud Lite from the time I woke in the morning to the time I went to bed and did not get drunk at all?

I dont see the point in drinking an expensive, heavy, dark beer that after drinking two of them it feels like you ate a full meal. Its way to hot here to drink heavy beer. Besides I like the taste of Miller Lite.

I guess that would all depend on what ones point is in drinking beer.

Is it to get a buzz? Is it for the taste? Is it for some other undisclosed purpose? Its up to the drinker.

I drink beer both for the taste and to get a buzz. Drinking two heavy dark beers will satisfy both of my reasons; give me a sufficient buzz and taste great at the same time.
It would take me at least 6 pack to get the same buzz drinking Miller HighLife, Rolling Rock, or PBR.

So my $8 6pack of Black Butte Porter goes a much longer distance in fulfilling my needs than an $8 12pack of an acceptable cheap beer.

There's a time and a place for cheap beer...it's called college.

It was interesting to see people go from Natty Ice and other cheap beers during college to more quality stuff after graduating and getting good jobs.

Cost and quantity are definitely 2 of the factors that come into play when making beer selections.
Once I came to the conclusion that it was more cost effective for me to buy quality beer (after the above mention El Paso experiment) I stopped spending my money on swill. My bloated stomach thanked me.

I didn't drink in college, but my beer of choice is Natty Ice. I prefer it to all other beer, and I have to make sure I bring my own to parties because I don't like the taste of Sam Adams or Sierra Nevada or Dogfishhead, or RedHook or all that other "premium" beer.

The truth, as I see it, is that I don't really like beer!

I picked Natty Ice at first because it is 5.9% - so instead of a six pack, I only need one or two. And now I love the way it tastes.

If my Natch is not available, I head straight to Vodka.

Natty Ice was my "college" beer, specifically because it had the highest alcohol to cost ratio!
