The sound is definitely cleaner / warmer, but it doesn't track as fast and it doesn't track polyphonics well at all. I realized that the little bit of weirdness the POG imparts was what I really liked about it after I got rid of it.

There must be a reason no one has pulled off a successful analog octave up. Gotta be pretty hard to do.
i think that is the issue. It is always too fake sounding and needs so much eq to make usable.
I mentioned this in the dedicated thread; Isnt the Foxrox Octron a successful analog octave up? I’ve never used one, but I remember reading about them a lot about ten years ago and they’re still being manufactured.
I guess I meant successful in that they were/are popular. I have no doubt it's possible, but apparently no one has made one that's matched the success of analog octave down or polyphonic up/down models.

Yeah, it’s definitely few and far between in the analog up world. I don’t know of any others than the Octron. They were popular for a time, but their heyday has definitely passed.
Nice. I've been thinking about upgrading my MKI to a MKII. ... maybe a MKIII... or maybe someone is going to sell their MKII?
Just added a MKII Proton to my board. Still have my MKI which is now gettin used for my guitar rig.

Mkii’s have started popping up and selling right away. I have a mki with the tim mod done and a mini with the wood paneling. And the new one when it ships

As far as I know, it is more like the MKII with the Tim tuning and also separate dry and octave volumes instead of a single volume with blend.
