I will say that the Doom2 and the Octavbre III are both incredible. I was really missing out on these. Doom2 is so incredible and so is that subby sunny machine. Sooo good!!!
I think the oiliness of the metal surface will make it hard for anything to adhere and probably would accelerate the letters falling off so I'd be weary of putting anything on there. But I understand the thought of wanting to keep the lettering around!
Can't wait to see what my Doom2 will look like graphics wise, but mostly how it is sound wise, the You're Doom was awesome at what it did but was too much of a 1 trick pony in my experience. Paired real good with the Xero D though!
And I don't think it was said in this thread but I'll echo what I read earlier, DHL fees are a real kick in the balls..
I'm curious to see what the next batch look like, his current designs are awesome, I've always liked the enclosures/graphics. It is cool that he is getting these out into people's hands after being quiet so long.

I’d think that if it’s the letters falling off, a clear coat on a properly prepared surface would work. If it’s paint failure that is caused by the lack of adhesion of the paint to the metal enclosure then nothing is likely to help. I’d hope Spencer isn’t using the same vendor for his new pedals. I will likely end up having my Octabvre etched out as previously mentioned, if this one starts failing.
well....for science...here we go. Wife's nail polish. She also had the good sense to suggest I do it on the letters that were already messed up instead of blotching up another spot. I don't mind having a little shininess or darkness around the lettering if it keeps it. Even wet, it looks pretty solid so far...

My concern is if/when the nail polish comes off, will it take the printing off with it?
Good point. If lettering and Velcro have problems adhering, probably so will nail polish.
Velcro doesn’t have a problem adhering as long as you clean the surface beforehand. Use some isopropyl alcohol, Bestine and canned air before application and you’re good to go!

What happens to the lettering if you do the same process to ensure the nail polish or clear coat don’t have a problem adhering?
My new Octabvre arrived. Time to compare it to the mini and see if it takes over on the very 3 leaf oriented board.
So while doing a light cleaning I accidently brushed the "s" on the sub dial, and part of it came off. So be warned, they are held on by a mere prayer.
Not all Doom 2s have got dodgy graphics, only those from last run. So I'd hope that for upcoming Dooms, Spencer simply (?) resorts to the original supplier/technique, as I think the look of the pedals is superb.

Preferred Octabvre MK2 over the MK3, meatier and better tracking with my Stingray, whose harmonic-rich tones are difficult to track for an analog octaver. MK3 worked flawlessly with a jazz bass or a pbass though. Plus i never use subs only... The sweet spot for my use is the MK2 mini, tracking wise, soundwise and real-estate wise. Glued to my pedalboard !
what’s the story with the FTT Black Vehicle? I’ve heard generally good reviews about that and their earlier bass drive, but haven’t heard good clips. What’s the character of the drive like and does it cover OD > Fuzz or is the range limited?
This was my expectation which is why I'm trying to take action. It's a great point about the nail polish taking the letters with it, and I considered that...but again, if that's going to happen, then the letters would have fallen off anyway. It isn't the end of the world...I got the pedal to play it so as long as that killer tone is there is all that really matters, but I like the looks and I like not having to look up what knob is what when I want to tweak things.
Like, it was my mistake to try and clean it up a little bit, but granted it was only a small part that came off. Guess I can no longer sell it as a "mint" B-Stock lol.
Masking tape and a marker = great, easy, inexpensive solution. If need be.
Another solution is find an artistic friend, give them a paint pen, and see what they come up with!
