It slightly irks me that the one on Reverb with an O and part of the M has still retained the L I’m now missing.

On a totally different note, is there any form of consensus about the best 3Leaf pedal made or am I about to start a flame war and get the thread banned by asking this? I’m a big fan of the Enabler, even though it’s aimed at something very different from those currently on the 3Leaf website.

I don't have nearly the experience with the 3leaf as others around here but I REALLY want an Enabler! That thing would solve a lot of board space and utility problems for me.

I have only seen one listed for sale but it was like, $500.00. Too rich for my blood.

If you need utility the Enabler brings in a package that small, let me recommend a Shift Line Olympic. It's been the anchor of all my builds for the last year. It does so much in such a small package, and it sounds great.

For me, the clear choice for best 3Leaf pedal are the ones I own. I can use those, which is infinitely superior to a pedal I can’t play. Groove Regulator and Proton IV in my case.

Id probably vote for the Octabvre as well. I’ve had a Version 1 for years and love how much variety is on tap between the switches, blends, and volumes. Super fun pedal!

For about the same amount of time I’ve had a You’re DOOM, and find it super fun, but sometimes wish the octave up could be dialed out a la EQ Devices Hoof/Reaper. Even so, it’s still the most synthy Fuzz I’ve had, and sits perfectly between the Octave and filter on the board.

I’ve owned every Filter Spencer has made as well, and loved them all- but currently loving the Proton V4- haven’t AB’d any side by side, but I think the simplicity and useful nature of every setting makes this my favorite filter he’s made.

I’d love an Enabler but after paying at our below retail for all my 3Leaf pedals over the years I don’t see justifying one in the current market.

Good answer! Hopefully we'll have some updates soon on future batches of pedals that will be available so that stable can get some new stablemates.

I second this. Given the conflict in Russia and the export ban on certain components, I'm not sure what availability will be like but, if recent experiences are anything to go by, there will be more SLOs in the TB classifieds than Enablers.

I'm enjoying seeing love for the Octabvre. Despite my publicised love of the Doom 2 a few pages back, were it not for the Doom 2 quoting one of my favourite shows, I would be tempted to rank the Octabvre ahead of it and I'm always surprised to see more Octabvres than Dooms for sale.

Apologies for the English English spelling of favourite. I intend to keep our defunct Us. Octabvre is already causing my spellcheck a mini seizure.

I doubt there’s anything like a consensus, but I’ve owned all of it at various point except for one iteration of the Proton.

Enabler, LBB, Pwonzer are all nice pedals, but nothing I think of as unequalled or best in class. The Vulcan stuff is great for drive, but not really breaking the mold. I will say the Vulcans, Enabler, and LBB have excellent EQ points - he’s got a knack for that for sure.

I think the whole range of filters (particularly the GR2, WL1, Chromatron, and Proton 4) and the Octabvre are special. Doom 2 has its own unique character and responsiveness, but it has some rivals in the gated/synthy fuzz realm. So if I had to choose it would be any of the filters and the Octabvre mini for the form factor, tracking, and the fact that it sounds good at virtually any setting.

I've played most all of the filters, both dooms, and all of the octaves, and It comes down to the chromatron and mk3 for me. The way the loop triggers on the chromatron tips it for me (GR2 second), and even though the mk2 seems smoother, I think that's just an lower output? the tonal range on the mk3 is far better. I loved the d2 but other more simpler fuzzes won out, I never could make up my mind on the d2 setting, always fiddling with it.

I've owned one and they are fantastic. I've also owned a MKIII SLO, which was also amazing. But they are two very different pedals IMO. Their features only overlap in that they are preamps, DI, and headphone amp. How they go about the preamp part is very different and so is the rest of their feature set. Again, both are great and you likely won't be disappointed either way.

Indeed. But I didn't want to point that out to start a can o worms, merely to say that there is latitude to negotiate if the seller is willing.

That's why I posted the price. No comment on the buyer/seller doing their thing. Just happy to provide potential bargaining chips, as you mentioned.

The Messenger is cleaner, more versatile with its filters and semi parametric mids, the bypassable EQ and the super low current draw that makes it much easier to deal with power supply wise. The Enabler is very good. The Messenger is just better.

As for the price of that Enabler, nobody ever said folks can't buy low and sell high. But those that notice those kind of things know. We see crazy prices almost everyday now. The folks that do it should just own it if someone talks about it, kinda beats the people that complain to the punch..

The same seller, Bass Bros, is still listing it on their U.K. website but I’m not sure whether it no longer being on Reverb means it has already sold.

In any case, it’s an excellent pedal. So much so I was seriously considering doubling up.

That’s a shame. Hopefully Spencer’s close to making more of the new batch and we can get back to something resembling pre-COVID usual service.
