Glad to see something is happening. I don't really care at all what the finish on the pedal is, but I'd love to be able to get a Doom 2 for not-silly-aftermarket-prices.
That's a really cool idea either way. Clear coat can get expensive though, especially enough to show depth like that, and enough coats to not run with all 5 surfaces
The photo on the site looks like it was media blasted, you can even still see where drill or water jet made the holes, but I never noticed this before on my doom 2, there's little holes below the pot holes, it was on the last ones too, just hard to see.
As the former owner of a Wonderlove v1 and a current Xerograph Deluxe user, the Chromatron has the loop and separate parameters for attack and decay. Those are big league, I think.
It already contends with the Xerograph Deluxe without those additional features. I ditched my XD for a Chromatron - haven't looked back.
I have both as well, I use both, generally the Chromatron has clean duty and the XD I mix fuzz pre and post pedal. From the start though my opinion has been the Chromatron is way easier to dial in, the expression input is much easier as well, the way the loop incorporates other pedals is pretty much seamless, like you're combining two or more pieces of gear, the XD is simply not. XD is very fun, I wouldn't have it if it weren't, but it can be tricky depending on input and what pedal is before it. I've also had less noise issues with the Chromatron, even with as much as 10 pedals in its fxloop, possibly a analog verse digital thing?
The Chromatron is simply surgical but musical at the same time, just like the octabvre, it just works, every time. I think a four pole option would be interesting, but not comparable to the XD, when I back off the 4>2 pole on the XD, it still reacts nothing like the Chromatron.

Cool, glad to see some positive movement from him. The new finish looks dope. I wouldn't mind another Doom2, but I'll wait to see if others have luck ordering anything from him, and besides, I might be blacklisted anyways.

NP(to me)Day! After being in transit for a long time my Chromatron has finally arrived. Just in time to complete the set of current offerings on the 3Leaf website and just in time for Spencer to release an entirely new line-up to financially cripple me.
I’d be grateful for suggested settings from those that are old hands with the pedal. I’ve been using a Triungulo Barbanera to good effect recently but I’m very keen to try out the fx loop on the Chromatron.

There isn't too much that's tricky about that pedal, anything you put in loop will be perfectly mixed together, nothing about the other pedal will change the behavior of the envelope trigger, if you want it too, place the pedal in question before the entire unit. Some of the knobs are subjective to your actual bass output, such as response, mix, and in a way resonance is effected. Below is how I use mine, there are very good suggestions on his support side if the website, manual. I use an expression pedal that has an adjustable range for heal/toe, which compared to a normal one is amazing for control.

I use a Source Audio Reflex, if you can find one its very nice. SA has mentioned making a module similar to the second link below for something new, the Reflex isn't in production. Mission Engineering makes a single, adjustable pedal though I think, other brands make them too. Its just nice to dial in exactly what you want to sweep, IF you like using expression pedals to control the envelope, it is nice to flip it off and let the 3leaf open and close everything.

Are you using an active or passive bass?
I’ve been using my chromatron instead of the groove regulator since it first came out. Thinking about getting rid of it. Are they really going for $450 + these days?

I tend to split time between both. I usually play a passive jazz or Thunderbird, or an active 18v Stingray.
My experience suggests very much yes. I am in the U.K. though so it’s always increased by 25% for import taxes, duties and postage too, so that does affect the price we see.

How long has that been there? I've found dealers all the way in Japan that still list Chromatrons for sale, only to find out when inquiring they never removed the listing , seeming surprised when brought up
It says for pre-order and is probably old news. I would be careful doing pre-orders with Prymaxe because their refund policy may only let you apply the credit to another product and not money back. Just double check with them at minimum and keep the conversation history. — with that said, I have had good interactions with Prymaxe.
