3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

If you liked the Vulcan you might wanna try the smallsound/bigsound Mini... it's a phenomenal pedal
I’d be interested in trying one when they’re made again. It costs a small fortune to get pedals into the UK (apart from those made here like Origin Effects - thanks lads!) even at retail price given postage and taxes, and the secondary market uplifts are too much for me at the moment. The Parabellum is really scratching an itch though in a way that I’m genuinely surprised at. I’m more into the weirder effects so if I do spend it’ll likely be on something odd.

Dont even think these have boxes & are missing print, guy still wants $600 per

*edit* listing says they do have all packaging

Odd to call that out and critique the pricing in any way when you've admittedly cashed out to the tune of $900 on a Chromatron. And, at the risk of beating the horse completely into dust...

Everyone here has their own stance on the degrees/ethics of scalping or gouging. Some of us have a running list of TB'ers, mental or otherwise, whom we won't sell to or trade with, knowing they've taken people to the cleaner on Reverb or in the classifieds. It's weird that you admit to gouging multiple times on Reverb, and then want to turn around and point out scalpers on Reverb while touting the value of keeping prices down. I'm not saying you can't have a change of heart on how you operate as a consumer/seller of gear. In fact, it's a necessary change if we want prices to settle down (in addition to people simply not paying outrageous prices). But it also feels like you benefitted willingly as a seller by jacking prices, and now want to shift gears into the community vibe as it now benefits you as a buyer/trader. Again, not saying you shouldn't shift gears and embrace more of the 'community' aspects here. Just consider the fact that you're casting stones at a house you occupied not too long ago...

Ive been on the receiving end too & was not calling the seller out simply pointing to the fact that Im not the only one that has been guilty of it & I at least came forward & admitted to my own actions which have no doubt contributed to the high prices seen on Reverb.

The past two years have been extremely difficult for me financially so being able to get some extra funds from someone willing to pay doesnt seem like a heinous crime... not saying that to justify what I did but rather give some context as to why... I never twisted anyone's arm but if you want see me as a bad guy so be it.

Most people here have jobs, I assume, but I bet most also keep their gear pot separate from their everything other pot, many reasons for this I know, but far too many times I've seen folks make a little on one piece, get hungry and continue to do so, especially in this crazy market.

The jobs there to make the money, the gears there to have fun (or gig for the working musician), if you can't afford it in the first place then chances are you shouldn't buy it. Don't make your purchase possible at another's expense

To clarify, I'm not calling you a bad guy, calling your actions 'criminal', or making any comment on your financial situation - good or bad. I'm just pointing out how it looks to be posting "overpriced" reverb listings in here within 24 hours of telling us how high you've sold 3 Leaf pedals for on reverb. It's okay to change your approach and then lay in the cut...

I'm by no means proud of listing at the price I did but did what was necessary to get myself & my partner by at the time. There are no victims in a consensual transaction & my ratings on Reverb are 100% positive which may be shrugged at but shows the customers satisfaction. I know many on here frown upon it which is understandable but I cant change the past, just do better in the future.

I think many of us are understanding now that we have some context. I can definitely sympathize with anyone having to sell some pedals at a premium in order to pay a medical bill or make rent. I do appreciate you willing to share this information even though you didn’t need to.

Thank you, I may have made some enemies by sharing but I just want to be transparent & though I can only speak for myself with certainty I'm sure not everyone trying to make a profit off of the high demand is doing so out of malicious intent to swindle others even if it may seem that way at face value. Anyway, I appreciate your understanding & hope I haven't placed myself out of favor with you or other members here... I really enjoy this community.

Oh I don't care what you've done, as I mentioned in my previous post, no one's putting a gun to my head to buy over priced gear.

I was merely adding to what Grahams stated (I think you posted seconds before I did, I should have "replied"). My statement may or may not apply to you, In no way was it directed to you, more of a general statement to where things are going. I really haven't kept up with what you've posted or said

This price gouging discussion is so refreshing.. haha..

While I think the irony of someone who previously sold pedals for way too much posting about gougers is priceless and was correctly pointed out, we mostly don't know crap about other people's lives and the reasons they sell their gear, the price they paid before reselling and whatever else. And sometimes folks who get called out can discuss it and it adds context to the situation and we can grow as a community.

@MisticoRitualista I think the way you've discussed this situation is a much better approach than some others who bs'd their way through similar things, like in the IE thread for example.. You owe nobody an explanation but I think the community here definitely welcomes context and discussion more than denial.

There's real gouging out there for sure. But there's also a bunch of other reasons for high prices that aren't necessarily gouging per say, imo. Where any high price pedal sale falls on the scale greatly depends on many factors and will vary for everyone..

This what I don't get l, he should give free shipping? Like the previous poster said, no one is pointing a gun to anyones head. I don't care if charges 2K , if I see value in what he's selling then that's fine. That threshold will be different for everyone. Now will he actually get 1K for the pedal? probably not, but it's his right to sell it for whatever he sells it at.

You're correct, in a free market they are 100% within their right to ask whatever price they see fit, especially given the highly sought after nature & limited quantity of units... the issue is that many view the drastic markups as unreasonable & therefore unfair from a moral standpoint as it is taking advantage of the demand & in some cases purely out of greed rather than necessity... its just a matter of ones personal ethics really.

What's going to be stupid is when the person that buys that has to offload it down the road and find out Spencer is selling them again for three times less of what they paid..

It's an excellent envelope, my favorite pedal out of 25, not worth that. You could buy a vintage envelope in mint shape for that.

Probably need to steer this in a more positive direction, it is sad the majority of topic with this brand is the markup posts. I remember thinking back, if I don't talk about something, does it even exist?

So they're saying profit is immoral?
