3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

I’m pretty new to 3leaf so I don’t know how often or if they ever reuse color schemes but it matches this one from their archive page

My bold prediction for the secretive January 2024 drop:

The following 'benched' pedals exist: Chromatron (Big box filters), Enabler, Little Black Box, PWNZOR, Pike Vulcan + XL

My thoughts on why I think Spencer would select the PWNZOR in January, assuming we're actually getting something different from the 3 circuits in production:

I think he will be sticking to the smaller footprint. he's laid the groundwork for that work flow, and would have to modify very little to accommodate a new/revamped pedal, this narrows things down to LBB, PWNZOR and Vulcan

Now out of these 3, Vulcan is not actually a 3leaf pedal, but aside from that he already has a "dirt" pedal in production with DOOM 2 (+ all the darkglass baggage surrounding the vulcan pedals). Little black box IMO is simply not flashy, nor has much room for improvements in a mk2 to really warrant a return to production (it's a clean boost, do we really want that anyway?)

That leaves us with the PWNZOR (mkii?). The original had 4 knobs, but internally there were 2 extra knobs (and a switch), so there's actually room for improving this pedal (using the 5 knob design of the DOOM 2)
that's just the surface level. internally the circuit would be improved by using the newer envelope detector found on proton v4s.

I'm fully prepared to be completely wrong, but a guy can dream (i also just really want a pedal that i can set to PWNAGE mode)

Nope nope nope. The market price is not $625. This is the market price when the offer is 7 pedals. An auction of 100 pedals would not average at $625 as the offer is higher and the demand would meet at a different point. If for whatever reason Spencer would pull off 5000 pedals at once, these would not sell at an average of $625. It seems that he’s really misinterpreting offer and demand principles. That said, he may adjust his current pricing upward until the demand is met (which may be a lot sooner than he thinks/hopes for).

Love it! I mean, you can't say he isn't keeping things interesting. Very curious to see what the pricing will look like on the next batch... I don't blame him and totally his perogotive to run things however he sees fit. And the demand is high, obviously. The one thing (and I say this not at all to shade, just an honest thought)... The one thing I feel he's maybe not taking into account is, if he keeps building pedals in the quantities he's talking about, does the demand eventually go down and therefore the price people are willing to pay goes down? I wouldn't be betting the house (ha!) that I can build those same 3 pedals forever and charging $600 for them forever.

Look at the Omnicomp and Scorpion from Broughton. Those were both very hard to get on the first few drops and I saw a few of them sell for big money. But, they kept building them and now they just sit there in stock and sell for less than retail in the classifieds. I don't know what that breaking point is or if Spencer will reach it with those offerings but it is interesting to watch :) Although for $600 for a pedal, I'm out of the market....

Wish him nothing but success for real. Great pedals. Small business owner doing what he needs to do. All good by me.

I still can't tell if there's a small amount of intentional satire he puts into these updates/posts. I feel it's a little wishy-washy to put market value of these pedals so high given it's a direct sale and not from the secondary market and/or scalper (+ the small sample size).

I dunno, I got a good lol from the "that's not a bad deal" line.

I do agree with the post in that there's really not this large scalper problem with his pedals. There isn't really the numbers to suggest otherwise besides a handful of troll listings on Reverb.

The blogs have been fun though, he seems to really manifest the whole "complainers in shambles" persona - online at least. Still wish him the best and hope he keeps making great pedals
