I see what you mean, but I see these as separate phenomena. The 3 Leaf filters are different pedals but the same effect. The Octabvre MKIII and Proton 4 are the same pedals with different aesthetics (the Doom 2, of course, did undergo a not insignificant revoicing). Ditto for the Iron Ether offerings. In the former case there is a real difference in tone, control options, etc. In the latter case the difference is one of fun colors and, at least with the 3 Leaf stuff, runs limited to 100 units.I like to think, even though 4 different names with many different iterations of each, they all have 3leaf character.
Same "phenomenon" is happening with the newest D2/MK3/Proton verse the exact same pedal a couple years ago, and as the "hand painted" IE pulling more than the newer IC board plated pedals.
But that is really good advice from Ian....don't pay attention to forums, pricing, etc.: If it sounds good to you, it IS good.
